According to the Russian State Register, the true Khurma is a determinate (bush) plant. However, due to seed company mix-ups over the decades, growers report everything from 1 m (3 ft) determinate bushes to 2 m+ (6.5 ft) indeterminate vines.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf45 <strong>Fruit Characteristics:<\/strong> The &#8220;official&#8221; strain produces smooth, round or slightly flattened bright orange fruits. However, many growers (especially from the <em>SibSad<\/em> seed company) grow a heavily ribbed, flattened bi-color version with red marbling inside. Weight ranges from 150 g (5 oz) up to massive 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs) fruits depending on the strain.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83d\udc45 <strong>Flavor:<\/strong> Generally prized for a very sweet, fruity, slightly oily\/meaty texture. We liked the taste and yield from the very first year. Mid-season tomatoes, with a long fruiting period and great output. The color description is accurate, golden-orange fruits. Full ripening on the vine. The bush height is up to 1.5 m (5 ft), the yield is sufficient, more than 3 kg (6.6 lbs) per plant. The taste has more sweetness than acidity. Malakhitovaya Shkatulka (Malachite Box) is like that too, also a bicolor inside, maybe just for me. And it is still flat-round, just like on the packaging. Medium-ribbed doesn&#8217;t mean slightly ribbed. There are plenty of examples of slightly ribbed ones, almost all flat-round varieties. Counting the ribs on Khurma, I think there are fewer of them than on Gribnoye Lukoshko (Mushroom Basket), which is heavily ribbed.<br \/>\nTomatoes from one bush, only the ones on the right are ripe, the ones on the left haven&#8217;t ripened yet. It gives a stable and tasty harvest every year. From purchased seeds and from my first saved seeds, they grew as short bushes. Last season, from my own seeds, it grew into a two-meter (6.5 ft) tall vine with slightly larger fruits.<\/p>\n<p>For me, this variety is a bit sensitive to the potassium\/calcium content in the soil. This year there was slight chlorosis on the leaves (apart from Khurma, the only other one with the same issue was Volgogradskiy Skorospelyi). Writing for the first time, although I&#8217;ve been reading for years. It was with this variety that my love for bicolors began. The first fruits were from 400-1000g (14 oz to 2.2 lbs), the largest was 1260g (2.7 lbs) under low tunnels with row covers in 2015 from my own saved seeds. But this year, Khurma disappointed me a bit. It grew under covers all summer, sowed to check germination on April 8. We doubt that you have a Khurma. In fact, we are certain of it. The picture on the packet is just a picture, but off-types (wrong strains) are real. Most likely, you got an off-type\/mix-up in the seeds.
