In this thread, one of the seed sources is the well-known Ukrainian breeder and collector Aleksey Kulik. The name “Vasilina” is a traditional Slavic female name.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). Out in the open ground, it reached about 4 feet (1.2 m), but will grow taller in a greenhouse. Generally a mid-season variety.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large, oblate (flat-round) beefsteaks. There is some variation in the seed lines: some growers get classic red fruits, while seeds sourced from Kulik produce large raspberry-pink fruits weighing 10.5-14 oz (300-400 g).

👅 Flavor & Texture: The red version has a classic, old-fashioned tomato flavor. The pink version, however, is praised for being incredibly sweet and meaty, with that sought-after granular (“sparkling”) texture in the flesh. Rated by one grower as one of the best-tasting tomatoes of the year!

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

S

Svetlyachok-plyus (Svetlana) ⭐ Pro Grower (1,450 posts)

Tall plant.
