The name “V Desyatku” is a Russian idiom that translates roughly to “Bullseye”, “Spot On”, or “Hitting the Mark” (referring to hitting the 10-point ring on a target).

🌿 Plant Habit: Determinate. It usually grows taller than advertised. While packets claim it stays under 3.3 ft (100 cm), growers report it hitting 4 ft (120 cm) in the open ground, and stretching all the way to 5.2 ft (160 cm) inside a greenhouse. Responds incredibly well to leaving multiple suckers, as they naturally terminate (top out) with fruit clusters.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Meaty, yellow, round-to-oblate slicing tomatoes. Average weight is around 5.3-8.8 oz (150-250 g), occasionally reaching 10.5 oz (300 g).

👅 Flavor & Early Yield: Super early and highly productive. It’s often the very first non-cherry tomato to start ripening in the garden. The taste is a solid, classic mild yellow tomato flavor. They can be picked early and counter-ripened indoors without losing their taste.

🛡️ Blemishes & Disease: The variety boasts good resistance to Late Blight (ФФ). Note: The fruits often develop dark pigment spots on the skin. This is completely normal for this variety (likely an environmental/sun reaction) and disappears as the tomato turns bright yellow.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

P

pumpkin_garden (Alina) 🌱 Member (338 posts)

Early-ripening, determinate variety. The packaging says 20-40 inches (50-100 cm) tall, but mine was closer to 4 feet (120 cm). It definitely isn’t Late Blight (ФФ) or any kind of disease at all, it just seems to be a natural quirk of the variety itself. When counter-ripening indoors, the taste doesn’t suffer at all, and the dark spots almost entirely disappear. They are tastier when they turn bright yellow.

The plant is vigorous and relatively resistant to Late Blight. Fits perfectly for growing out in the open dirt; it was the very first variety to start ripening for me (out of 14 varieties, including cherries) and formed the entire backbone of my harvest.

It’s a meaty, slicing tomato. Taste-wise – nothing mind-blowing, but overall, it’s tasty.

Y

YuliVi (Tatiana) ⭐ Pro Grower (1,523 posts)

V Desyatku (Bullseye) is my absolute favorite variety 👍 I’m experimenting with it right now 😂 This year I sowed the seeds on Feb 11th along with my indets (indeterminate plants)… 😃 Stuck it in the greenhouse… 😲 and it is already 5.2 ft (160 cm) tall!
