Seeds were famously distributed by a beloved forum member named Galina (Esme).

🌿 Plant Habit: Generally behaves as an indeterminate (tall) variety, easily reaching 5.5-6.5 ft (1.7-2 m) in a greenhouse, though some older seed stock produced semi-determinate plants around 4 ft (1.2 m).

🍅 Fruit Characteristics (The Shape Mystery): Growers in this thread note a discrepancy in fruit shape under the same name. Some grow round/oblate red beefsteaks (up to 10.5 oz / 300 g), while others grow elongated, pepper-shaped/icicle paste tomatoes. It is highly likely two different varieties are circulating under the name “Gloria”.

👅 Flavor & Uses: Regardless of shape, the flavor is universally praised. It is incredibly sweet with just a tiny hint of acidity to balance it out. The flesh is slightly soft, making it perfect for fresh eating, juices, and sauces, rather than whole canning.

⚠️ Drawbacks: Can be prone to concentric cracking (circular cracks around the stem) if nights get too cold in the fall.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

R

Rodebielesumer (Elena) ⭐ Pro Grower (1,832 posts)

📍 Germany / Luxembourg / France border area (USDA Zone 8)

Seeds were received from Galochka.
