It is famous for producing massive floral “hypertresses” with dozens of blossoms.

⚠️ The “Two Versions” Mystery: In Russian and Eastern European seed markets, two distinct versions circulate. The True Original is a compact dwarf/bush (about 60-100cm / 2-3 ft) with highly rugose (wrinkly) leaves. The “Fake” version (often sold by commercial vendor Gusev) is a tall indeterminate plant, which many growers suspect is actually the German heirloom Riesentraube. Both are highly rated for taste!

🌿 Leaf Type Genetics: The original has regular rugose leaves, but growers frequently report a stable “Potato Leaf” (PL) mutation popping up. Genetically, this PL trait is recessive and doesn’t affect the fruit quality.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Small red cocktail/cherry tomatoes weighing 25-40g (~1 oz). They have a very distinct, sharp little point (nipple) at the blossom end.

⏳ Growing Tips (Start Early!): The true dwarf version is notoriously slow to start and ripen. Most experienced growers recommend sowing seeds in January or early February. Because of its compact size, it is an excellent candidate for 3-5 gallon containers.

N

Nadin ⭐ Pro Grower (3,756 posts)

📍 Russia

Commercial vendor Dmitry Gusev writes the following about this variety: “Up to 100 fruits in a cluster.
