The name “Tsarsky” translates to “Royal” or “Tsar’s”.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate. A massive, towering vine that loves to climb. Shows excellent resistance to Leaf Mold (Cladosporium) and extreme heat, but generally requires a greenhouse to reach its full potential in cooler northern climates.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Depending on the seed source, you will either get a red, smooth plum tomato, or a pinkish-raspberry plum with a distinct “beak” (point) on the blossom end. Both strains typically weigh between 3 to 5 oz (80–150g).

👅 Flavor & Texture: Dense, meaty, and very juicy for a paste tomato. The flavor is highly rated as sweet and balanced, avoiding the blandness common in many processing types.

🥫 Best Uses: An elite canning tomato that holds its shape perfectly in jars. Also fantastic for fresh eating and late-season indoor storage.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

E

ElenaN (Elena) ⭐ Pro Grower (28,513 posts)

📍 Kostroma, Russia (USDA Zone 3/4)

Mid-season. They are firm, gorgeous, and the absolute perfect size, texture, and shape for canning. Plus, they store really well and taste great in salads! Bulletproof against bad weather and disease.
