Commercial packets (from companies like Poisk or SeDeK) often contain small pear-shaped cherries. The true forum heirloom (traced back to collector Evelina Grineva from Altai) is a much larger, elongated yellow plum/icicle with a distinct “beak”.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall), late-season. It requires strict pruning to a single stem (single leader). Standout feature: It produces massive “multiflora” trusses holding 80-170+ blossoms per cluster. Strong supports are mandatory.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Bright yellow (sometimes with a pink blush), elongated plum shape with a tip, weighing 1.4 – 3.5 oz (40-100 g). Excellent keeping quality—they can be stored well into winter.

👅 Flavor: Dense, meaty, and sweet when fully ripe, though some find it slightly mild fresh. It truly shines as a canning tomato, holding its shape perfectly in jars.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

E

Evgeniya ⭐ User (236 posts)

I want to talk about the Zolotoy Dozhd (Golden Rain) variety. I planted it for the first time in 2012, and I absolutely loved it. It’s an indeterminate (grows up to 6.5 ft / 2 m) and features massive multiflora trusses. It sets a huge amount of fruit. Unfortunately, I didn’t count them all, but the description says it can hold up to 80 tomatoes per cluster. Average weight is about 2.5 – 3.5 oz (70-100 g). You absolutely must tie up the trusses and prune the plant to a single stem. It’s incredibly productive. It grew in my open garden and produced fruit until late autumn.
