He personally introduced this variety on the forum. Named after the famous Medeo mountain valley near Almaty.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate. A massive, towering plant that performs significantly better outdoors in the dirt than in a greenhouse. Easily reaches over 6.5 feet (2 m) tall.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Giant, dome-shaped bicolor beefsteaks. They have a yellow/orange base covered with beautiful red/pink blushing. Fruits are massive, frequently weighing between 1 to 1.8 lbs (450-840 g). Very meaty with very few seeds.

👅 Flavor: Absolutely top-tier. Exceptionally sweet with a distinct fruity aftertaste and almost zero acidity.

💡 Standout feature: For such a massive, sweet bicolor beefsteak, it has an incredibly long shelf life and transports very well.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

S

Sinyer (Vitaliy) ⭐ Pro Grower (4,399 posts)

📍 Almaty, Kazakhstan (USDA Zone 5)

Hello everyone. I want to introduce a variety I obtained through crossing and careful fruit selection. I won’t say what I crossed with what, and I certainly won’t write it down. That stays a secret. But I’ll tell you a little bit about the variety itself.

It’s an indet. Very tall. Outdoors in the dirt, it grew over 6.5 feet (2 m). Pruned to two stems. By the fifth truss, fruits weighing over 1.1 lbs (500 g) managed to fully ripen. There were 10 fruits total. The largest of them was 1.8 lbs (840 g). The smallest ripe one was 1 lb (450 g). The shape is dome-like, not heart-shaped. Later on, when all the ripe fruits were picked, another 7 smaller fruits grew but didn’t have time to ripen before the season ended.

In the greenhouse, the results were definitely worse. The fruits weighed less, and the flavor profile was pretty neutral. Outdoors, the taste is excellent: sweet with a distinct fruity aftertaste. And one more little detail: when the sun hits the fruit more directly, it gets redder and sweeter. It transports very well and has a great shelf life. Can sit fully ripe in the fridge for three weeks. I have some seeds, but not many.

A

AlexanderS (Alexander) ⭐ Pro Grower (9,879 posts)

📍 Yaroslavl Region (USDA Zone 4)

Vitaly, you are awesome 😮 🎩 👏
The fruits are absolute beauties 👍 this is my favorite coloring 😉
Sign me up to test them out and adapt them to northern climates 😉

S

Shelkovnitsa ⭐ Pro Grower (12,748 posts)

Sinyer (Vitaliy) said:
I want to introduce a variety I obtained through crossing and careful fruit selection. The thread starter, “Sinyer” (Vitaliy Alifirov), is one of the most famous modern tomato breeders from Almaty, Kazakhstan. He named this variety after the majestic Medeo mountain valley located just outside his city.Pay special attention to the hilarious interaction between Vitaliy and Lyuda mid-thread. Lyuda posted a photo of her red Zailiyskiy Alatau tomatoes, thinking they were his Golden Mountains. Vitaliy immediately spotted the error, noting that there’s no way a red/raspberry tomato genetics just magically flip into a yellow/pink bicolor.
