It had a nice little tangy kick to it.

I grew it outdoors in the dirt. The plant stayed under 2.6 feet (80 cm) tall. It is a really heavy yielder. The shelf life isn’t great, though. This one was definitely my discovery of the year for how low-maintenance, tasty, and productive it is.

L

Ladoga (Anzhela) ⭐ Pro Grower (1,816 posts)

📍 Unknown Location

My seeds were from Popenko. This is a very common prejudice against white and pale yellow varieties in the tomato community. Because they lack the sharp acids and complex flavor compounds found in red or black tomatoes, white heirlooms often taste overly mild, bordering on bland (especially in wet, rainy years when the fruit takes on excess water). The fact that Zefir managed to deliver a sweet, tangy, and complex flavor despite poor weather makes it a standout variety in the pale tomato category!

📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Zefir 🌍 Origin: A Russian heirloom variety.
