It is part of their popular “Fig” series, which also includes Inzhir Krasniy (Red Fig) and Inzhir Zheltyy (Yellow Fig). The red version is widely considered to be a renaming of the Italian heirloom Abruzzo.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indet. Mid-season. A vigorous, thick-stemmed plant that can handle being run to 3-5 stems. Grows very tall in both greenhouses and open ground.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Pink, heavily ribbed (pleated) pear-shaped tomatoes. Size can vary wildly, with average fruits hitting 5 to 10 oz (150-300 g), and megablooms pushing past 1 lb (450 g). The internal structure can sometimes be hollow.

👅 Flavor: Highly debated among growers. Some report a sweet, sugary, “watermelon-like” flesh, while others in colder climates find them bland, dry, and too hollow for fresh eating.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

S

Svetikk (Svetlana) ⭐ Pro Grower (29,382 posts)

📍 Moscow Region, South / Stupino (USDA Zone 4)

Variety from Gavrish//

Gavrish Description: A new mid-early variety with amazingly tasty and aromatic flesh. The plant is indeterminate, tall, for growing in greenhouses and open ground (in southern regions, staked). The fruits are ribbed at the base, very large, meaty, multi-chambered, weighing up to 12-16 oz (350-450 g). The flesh is juicy, tender, sugary, with a rich tomato flavor. An excellent choice for fresh summer salads, tomato juice, and home canning. Assorted pickles using all three colors of the FIG series (Red Fig, Pink Fig, Yellow Fig) look especially appetizing. The tomatoes were medium to large (I don’t prune at all), ranging from 5 to 16 oz (150-450 g).

The shape of the tomatoes was totally different from the packet photo, they looked a lot like Puzata Hata. Seeds were either from Aelita or Gavrish. Grew out matching the picture and description, was pretty productive, but I didn’t like the taste. It was dry, had hollow voids inside, and was a bit bland. Plus, my family just doesn’t really like pleated tomatoes. They basically told me we aren’t planting this variety anymore. This year (2019) I grew Best Bestos, which is also a large, lightly pleated pear, and it tasted way better with just as good of a yield.

L

Lena Vanyushka (Elena) ⭐ Pro Grower (628 posts)

📍 Russia

Nadezhda 69: …I watched a Gavrish video… the agronomist said the fruits can vary in shape and often look like a gathered pouch… So we are growing the correct mater.

Well, what do you know… I planted all 3 Figs in 2019… Only the pink one turned out how it’s supposed to. Pleated pears, plus oblate ones from megablooms. Taste is ordinary, I’d even say a bit bland. Flesh is like watermelon, don’t recall any hollows. Yield is average. Because of this, their internal structure is notoriously sensitive to weather and watering. In ideal, sunny conditions, they fill out with dense, sweet gel. But in cold, wet, or low-light conditions, the seed cavities fail to develop properly, leaving the tomato hollow and dry inside!

📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Inzhir Rozoviy (Pink Fig) 🌍 Origin: A commercial Russian variety released by the seed company Gavrish.
