The name “Kot Timofey” translates to “Tomcat Timofey”.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall), but stays relatively manageable. Usually hits around 5 to 6 feet (1.5 to 1.8 m) in open ground. It is an incredibly sturdy, powerful plant that can handle being pruned to 2 or 3 stems and thrives in both cold and hot weather.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Classic red beefsteaks. They are very large, typically weighing 14-21 oz (400-600 g), with some monsters reaching over 24 oz (700 g). The fruits are round, smooth, and meaty.

👅 Flavor: A fantastic old-fashioned “tomatoey” tomato. It’s a heavy yielder, which is exactly why it stood out and caught my eye. This is my second year going crazy over it. It’s a very vigorous, sturdy indeterminate, and the yields are insane! Last year I had it in the greenhouse, pruned to 2 stems, and it pumped out 12.5 lbs (5.7 kg).

This year, which was a freezing season, I planted it outdoors under an overhang. I let it run to 3 stems because I could tell right from the seedling stage that it had the horsepower for it. Height was 5.9 feet (1.8 m) when I finally pinched the top off.

It didn’t disappoint me one bit – total yield was 20.6 lbs (9.35 kg)!!! It unconditionally took the silver medal in my garden this year. That entire weight was made up of just 48 tomatoes, with the biggest one hitting 19 oz (540 g), and honestly, there were still some little peas left hanging on it when I finally pulled the plant.

Taste-wise, last year it was incredibly delicious. This year it was just “good” (it was lacking a little bit of sugar from the weather).

G

grawicapa (Pavel) ⭐ Pro Grower (3,579 posts)

📍 Ivanovo, Russia (USDA Zone 4)

If anyone is interested in my full report on this variety, come check out my grow log: [link]

V

Valeriy1968 (Valeriy) ⭐ Pro Grower (1,504 posts)

📍 Vologda, Russia (USDA Zone 3)

I finally got to test out Kot Timofey this season.
