Exceptionally adaptable to weather stress (heat or drought).

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Red, plum-shaped fruits with a distinctly flared, pleated base that makes them look like physalis (groundcherries) or paper lanterns. Plum-shaped, red, pumps out the harvest before Late Blight hits, highly valued for earliness and massive fruit set.” They didn’t have a photo of the tomato on the packet.

For us, it starts ripening right on the heels of our earliest varieties. The adaptation to pretty much everything is fantastic. Ours got up to about 3.3 feet (1 m) tall, and we didn’t prune it at all. Fruits are up to 3.5 oz (100 g), and the shape really does look exactly like a physalis husk. It produces for a really long time. Red on the inside. Just a stunning little tomato. Solid classic tomato flavor, I’d give it a 4.5. The photos are from today, 09/16/16. We finally got some rain after a month of extreme heat and drought. We got our seeds originally from Tomatinka.

T

tomatinka (Vera) ⭐ Pro Grower (14,911 posts)

📍 Tyumen region (USDA Zone 3)

👨‍🌾 Editor’s Note: Beating the Blight
Elena mentions that this variety “pumps out the harvest before Late Blight hits.” In Russian and Eastern European short-season gardening, Late Blight (Phytophthora) is the ultimate garden killer.
