It is a cross between Big Rainbow and Green Zebra.

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). Known for being a bit wimpy and spindly in the seedling stage, but it vigorously stretches to 6-6.5 feet (1.8-2 m) in a greenhouse.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Absolutely stunning yellow-orange beefsteaks with bold red/magenta stripes. Inside, the flesh is a marbled red and yellow. Average weight is 7-10.5 oz (200-300 g), sometimes pushing over 1 lb (450 g).

👅 Flavor & Yield: A highly debated variety! Many growers praise its complex, fruity, and sweet flavor. Others find it bland or too tart depending on their soil and weather. It has a notorious reputation for being a very low yielder, often giving only 4 to 6 large fruits per plant.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

S

Sandr (Aleksandr) 🌱 Member (339 posts)

📍 Unknown Zone

I loved this variety purely for its looks, it is incredibly beautiful both inside and out. And Michael Pollan was decent for canning. Based on all that, I’ve come to the conclusion that modern breeding for stripes comes at the heavy expense of flavor.
