Widely grown in Russia as &#8220;Sinyaya Grusha&#8221;, which literally translates to &#8220;Blue Pear&#8221;. It is often listed in European catalogs under the English name.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf3f <strong>Plant Habit:<\/strong> Indeterminate, very vigorous, and tall (frequently reaching 2-2.5m \/ 6.5-8 ft). Despite its height, it has rather delicate, sparse foliage. It is an extremely heavy yielder (&#8220;a wall of fruit&#8221;) and easily supports 3 to 4 stems without dropping blossoms, even in the heat.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf45 <strong>Fruit Characteristics:<\/strong> Pear-shaped (some strains are heavily ribbed, others round out as they ripen). The base color is red\/brick with heavy dark purple\/blue anthocyanin on the shoulders. \u26a0\ufe0f <strong>Growing Tip:<\/strong> Anthocyanin expression depends entirely on direct sunlight. Fruits grown in the shade will remain mostly red.<\/li>\n<li>\u2696\ufe0f <strong>Weight Variations:<\/strong> Growers note there seem to be two versions circulating: a smaller cocktail version (40-100g \/ 1.4-3.5 oz) and a larger version (150-200g \/ 5-7 oz, occasionally throwing a massive 470g \/ 1 lb fruit).<\/li>\n<li>\ud83d\udc45 <strong>Flavor &amp; Usage:<\/strong> Very sweet with a pleasant tang and a juicy, jelly-like flesh. Excellent among anthocyanin varieties. It was quite productive. Fruit weight was up to 70-80g (2.5-2.8 oz). There was one large fruit about 200g (7 oz). Grown outdoors, bush height was 1.2-1.4m (4-4.5 ft). The taste is good.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed one peculiarity of this variety: when ripening (when the bottom of the tomato turns red), the fruits started to lose their shape. Perhaps this is already overripening, and true ripeness comes when it hasn&#8217;t colored up quite that much yet. I suspect that when they ripen, there will be nothing left to show. We love blue tomatoes, so we will pick them clean and the yield won&#8217;t be visible on camera.<br \/>\nAnd the yield of this variety is wonderful!<br \/>\nI planted three bushes. They are all growing in different spots in two greenhouses. They are huge in height, about 2.5 meters (8.2 ft). But I needed to test the quality of my seeds. I sowed on April 21. Everything was fine with the seeds. My beauty grew and even ripened a bit on the vine. I clear all the tomatoes from the greenhouse on September 1st and sow cover crops. It was a pity to remove a healthy bush with an abundance of green fruits. But I learned something for myself &#8211; Sinyaya Grusha ripens very well indoors from green. It stays tasty, and with salt &#8211; very sweet! I still get many large ones and they are pear-shaped, not round. Love it! LOVE! \ud83d\ude18<\/p>\n<p>The average weight in this photo is 140g (5 oz). I got the smaller version of it (there are two versions circulating: one with larger fruits and one with smaller ones). It set fruit very well, even though it ended up in a very densely crowded planting. I pruned it to two stems. The plant was slender, with delicate foliage, but it set fruit until the cold weather hit. For me, it turned out mid-season. The fruits didn&#8217;t get particularly sweet for me due to my cold nights, but if you compare it with other blue\/anthocyanin tomatoes, the taste is very competitive. For taste, out of all the blues that year, I gave the prize to <em>Lucid Gem<\/em>, but for fruit set, this one was among the first. The seeds from the first didn&#8217;t sprout, from the second they sprouted with &#8220;helmet heads&#8221; (seed coats stuck on), and only the third one worked out. And all because I read a review saying it was SUPER YUMMY. I wanted it so badly. I had one bush. They started to ripen early, among the very first, even though they were sown later. The yield is very good. Over the season I took more than a bucket of very tasty tomatoes from one bush. At first, there were two stems, and then it just grew however it wanted. The tomatoes are not small, just right. And there were even quite large ones. Average weight 150 grams (5.3 oz). Very sweet with amazingly beautiful bright flesh. This is now my favorite variety. I just think that for one family, you don&#8217;t need more than one bush.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t find a photo of the bush. I think I photographed such a beauty. I just took this photo on Sept 19. The bush turned out to be very, very productive! The tomatoes are heart-shaped, brick-colored with a light anthocyanin blush. I think it is segregation or cross-pollination. If only these tomatoes would keep their traits!
