The name translates to “Korean Long-Fruited” (or simply Korean Long).

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). The plant features a delicate, wispy “weeping” foliage structure common to many elongated/oxheart types. It easily reaches 5.5 to 6 feet (1.6-1.8 m) in a greenhouse. Requires tying up.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Highly unusual, elongated cylindrical fruits with a gracefully curved “beak” on the end. They are a beautiful raspberry-pink color. Average weight is around 7 to 9 oz (200-250 g), though early fruits can push 14 oz (400 g) and look more like hearts. They have dense, meaty flesh with very few seeds.

👅 Flavor & Use: Excellent, sweet flavor. Because they are practically all meat and very dense, they cut “like sausage” and are fantastic for fresh slicing, freezing, and sauces. Pro Tip: They hold up incredibly well in storage and can produce late into the fall.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

D

Danko (Elena) ⭐ Pro Grower (10,117 posts)

KOREAN LONG. The average fruit weight is 7 to 9 oz (200-250 g), though the very first fruits can have more of an elongated-heart shape and weigh up to 14 oz (400 g). The plant height is 5.2 to 6 feet (1.6-1.8 m). Because Korean Long produces long, heavy, dense fruits on wispy vines, the fruits are notorious for snapping cleanly off the stem at the joint (the knuckle) if you accidentally bump into them while walking past.Additionally, you’ll see growers praising this tomato because it “slices like sausage.” This is the ultimate compliment for a paste tomato! It means the cell walls are so thick, and the seed cavities so small and dry, that when you cut it horizontally, it holds together perfectly in a solid, meaty slice without collapsing into a puddle of juice and seeds on the cutting board.

📌 Quick Summary: Koreyskiy Dlinnoplodniy (Korean Long) 🌍 Origin: An heirloom variety known in Russian collector circles.
