The seeds were discovered by a Russian collector in a remote Siberian village near Abakan, right next to the ruins of Zinkhir\u2014the oldest stone city in the world, once belonging to the ancient Scythian civilization. The local village woman who grew it simply called it &#8220;Nosatka&#8221; (meaning &#8220;Nosey&#8221;). The collector renamed it <em>Skifeya<\/em> (Scythian Fairy) to honor the region&#8217;s ancient history.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf3f <strong>Plant Habit:<\/strong> Indeterminate, but stays relatively compact and manageable. In a greenhouse, it reaches about 1.6m (5.2 ft). It has medium foliage and can be easily pruned to 2 or 3 stems. \u26a0\ufe0f <strong>Growing Tip:<\/strong> It absolutely loves full sun; plants grown in sunny spots develop much faster.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf45 <strong>Fruit Characteristics:<\/strong> Highly unusual and visually striking! The fruits are delicate scarlet red, heavily ribbed\/pleated (corrugated), and almost always end in a cute, curved &#8220;beak&#8221; or nose. They are paste-sized, rarely crack, and have an exceptional shelf life.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83d\udc45 <strong>Flavor &amp; Usage:<\/strong> The flesh is firm and juicy with a refreshing sweet-tart flavor. The ribbed fruits of this variety immediately attract attention with their beautiful shapes\u2014each fruit inevitably ends with a cute, curved beak (nose), and the fruits themselves are medium-small, of a delicate scarlet color. The flesh inside is dense, quite juicy, with a sweet-and-sour refreshing taste.<\/p>\n<p>I grew Skifeya this season. Several plants were planted in the greenhouses in different spots for comparison. The variety turned out to be quite unpretentious, mid-season in my conditions. The Skifeya bushes are not very tall; in a greenhouse, they can reach up to 1.6m (5.2 ft).<\/p>\n<p>Foliage is medium, the plants can be pruned to 2-3 stems. When grown in a sunny location, the plants develop much more actively.<\/p>\n<p>The fruits look as if they are corrugated, all covered in ribs and pleats\u2014very unusual and beautiful. They are completely resistant to cracking and can be stored for a long time after harvesting. I currently have some stashed away, I just sit and admire them )))<\/p>\n<p><strong>And now about the origin of this variety:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I personally know the person who found and brought these seeds back from one of her trips through those historical places.<br \/>\nThere is an area on the map with the beautiful name &#8220;Vershino-Bidzha&#8221;. It is located near Abakan (Siberia), next to the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir. In this exact location lie the ruins of the world&#8217;s oldest stone city, &#8220;Zinkhir&#8221;, which once belonged to the SCYTHIAN civilization. Red.<\/p>\n<p>A very convenient variety for dehydrating (sun-drying). No excess liquid, but not dry. Any hollow spaces inside are insignificant.
