Performs exceptionally well both indoors and in the open ground.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf45 <strong>Fruit Characteristics:<\/strong> Small pink elongated plums (paste type) with a distinct little beak (nipple) at the blossom end. The bush has medium foliage. The fruits are small pink plums with a little beak, weighing 70-90 g (2.5-3.2 oz). They are tasty, sweet, and perfect for a quick snack, salads, or outstanding in canning.<\/p>\n<p>They ripen very well off the vine indoors. When ripening indoors, they develop a deep, solid color inside (no hard white cores) and retain a very good taste and sweetness. As for drawbacks, I would say there&#8217;s a relatively small number of fruits per cluster, but in every other aspect\u2014this is my absolute favorite small-fruited variety.<\/p>\n<p>I grew it in two stems, but next time I might try three or four. In 2017, I plan to plant 5-6 bushes, partly specifically for long-term storage. Had 2 bushes in a dark corner of the greenhouse. I planted early-consumption cucumbers right next to them. Because of this, my Slavyanka put on too much vegetative growth (got &#8220;fat&#8221; from all the nitrogen), because I was regularly feeding the cucumbers.<\/p>\n<p>The first fruits were massive, up to 97 g (3.4 oz), and then they returned to normal size. Good classic tomato taste, I ended up sun-drying all of them. I had two bushes. One was planted from a rooted top cutting, and the other from the original roots (because I topped the seedling in the spring). They rooted very quickly, got stronger, started growing, and turned into two literal baobab trees!<\/p>\n<p>Each bush grew into several stems, setting fruit with the persistence of a maniac from the bottom all the way to the top. They reached the greenhouse ceiling and just kept setting fruit up there too. Most delicious! Collectors call that one &#8220;Giant&#8221;, while they call this pink one with a beak &#8220;Royal&#8221; (Tsar). On Tomatland, the photo also looks exactly like Slavyanka&#8230; it&#8217;s such a mess with all these De Barao varieties.<\/p>\n<p>Aelita registered their larger red one without a beak in the State Register.<\/p>\n<p>The only thing I can confidently confirm is that this pink-raspberry tomato with a beak \u2014 whether you call it Slavyanka or Royal De Barao \u2014 is an incredibly delicious thing, both raw and in jars.
