The name translates to &#8220;Sun of the North&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83e\uddd0 <strong>The Naming Irony:<\/strong> As forum growers quickly point out, the name is quite misleading! One would expect a &#8220;Northern Sun&#8221; to be a yellow or orange tomato growing on a frail, cold-tolerant bush. Instead, it is a massive, red beefsteak growing on a highly vigorous, southern-style vine.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf3f <strong>Plant Habit:<\/strong> Indeterminate (tall). The bush is very powerful and vigorous. It performs exceptionally well in a greenhouse when trained to 2 stems. Because of its vigor, growers recommend &#8220;topping&#8221; it (pinching off the growing tip) late in the season so it finishes ripening its fruit.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf45 <strong>Fruit Characteristics:<\/strong> Classic red beefsteaks. They are large, regularly reaching up to 500g (1.1 lbs). <strong>Standout trait:<\/strong> Unlike many varieties that produce smaller fruits at the top of the plant, this variety maintains its massive fruit size along the entire height of the vine.<\/li>\n<li>\ud83d\udc45 <strong>Flavor &amp; Yield:<\/strong> A highly productive mid-season variety.
