It was originally distributed by a grower named Galya-64 around the year 2000. Because it had no official name, it spread across the internet under various names: Galya’s Truffle, Raspberry Truffle, or Folk Truffle (Narodnyi).

🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). Performs excellently in both greenhouses and open ground. Growers note that outdoor yields are often higher, but greenhouse plants ripen earlier and produce late into the autumn.

🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Red-pink (raspberry) pear or truffle-shaped tomatoes weighing roughly 90-150 g (3.1-5.2 oz). Important Trait: The variety is genetically prone to prominent “green shoulders” (yellow/green tops even when ripe). Some growers find this charming, noting the skin is thin and doesn’t ruin the texture.

👅 Flavor & Culinary Use: A highly versatile variety. Firm yet juicy and sweet. Their perfect size and dense walls make them top-tier for whole canning in jars, but they are equally loved in fresh salads.

⏳ Yield, Storage & Challenges: Exceptionally high yielder and an outstanding “long keeper”—growers report storing them successfully until late December (though they can get hard/woody if kept too long). Warning: It can be susceptible to Blossom End Rot (BER) in the greenhouse and requires generous potassium feeding.

🍅 Grown this variety? Click here to add your own photos and review below!

G

Galya-64 (Galina) ⭐ Pro Grower (4,414 posts)

📍 Russia

AleksandrS said:

Galya, what kind of truffle do you have?

Sasha, it’s this red-pink one, always productive, the absolute tastiest for pickling/canning and always a pleasure in a salad.
