- 📈 Yield: Highly variable depending on the climate and growing conditions. Some growers report low yields (3-5 giant fruits per plant), while others report excellent production (~10 large fruits per plant). It definitely requires warmth to fully unlock its flavor and yield potential.
In terms of taste, it turned out to be very sweet and delicious. So far, it is the best-tasting bicolor I have grown. I grew it outdoors (open ground) with a late planting, so the trusses only had 2-3 fruits. The fruits are large, but definitely far from the stated 800g (1.7 lbs); my largest was 350g (12 oz).

Sasha, was the late planting directly into the ground or starting the seeds late?
It was stated to reach up to 1.2 meters (4 ft), but mine was probably around a meter (3.3 ft). I planted the seeds very late—in mid-April—so I think the variety didn’t fully reveal its true potential for me.

I have to say, this year it is one of the sweetest varieties I grew.
Moreover, the consistency inside is almost like jelly.
At first, I grew one huge fruit weighing 430g (15 oz), and after I picked it, more ovaries started forming. It set 8 more fruits, though smaller, looking to be about 250-300g (9-10.5 oz).
I think it’s worth planting every year just for salads.

I suppose the shortened name for this variety is Tuxhorn’s, because its full name is Tuxhorn’s Red and Yellow.
Here is how mine turned out this year (the first one is a bit wonky, it grew from a fasciated mega-bloom):
SOOO tasty, one of the absolute best, but the yield was basically zero. Only 3 fruits weighing about 300-400g (10.5-14 oz) each. The bush was small and spindly. Very few seeds, maybe 7-10 per fruit.
My record weight this year was 440g (15.5 oz). 😳

Verunchik, I actually grew these in the exact same location…
At first, I didn’t like it that much, but these ones (the upper ones on the vine) got much better in taste toward the end of August.
Galyush, I meant the color. Yours, Sasha’s, and Galya’s all look a bit different. Last year I had bicolors that were just plain red or yellow on the outside, but fully bicolor on the inside.
Verochka, I think the color can vary even in the same location depending on the weather that specific year.
My Tuxhorn’s. I only had 3 like this.
And my Tuxhorn’s Red and Yellow. It was the best of all the bicolors for me. Productive, beautiful, and tasty, despite having a terribly cold summer.

A tasty and sweet bicolor, but not productive. There were only 5 such large fruits on the bush. I grew it in the greenhouse in 2 stems. Seeds were from Popenko.

Also mid-season I would say, not the most productive for me 😉
But it was the absolute largest-fruited this year in the absolute category — 727g (1.6 lbs)!
And it had the highest average weight in the “at least 5 fruits per bush” category 😄 — an average of 545g (1.2 lbs).
They were all over 400g (14 oz) 😉 I definitely want to repeat it.

Grew outdoors. At first, it just sat there “thinking” about something… didn’t want to set fruit. Then it corrected itself. I didn’t take a photo on the scale, but the three tomatoes in the photo weighed a combined 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs)! It didn’t amaze me with its taste though—it just didn’t get enough heat.
I found the seeds, decided to grow it again…
