📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Big White Pink Stripes
- 🌍 Origin: A classic heirloom variety. Often traded in Russian seed circles under the translated name “Bolshiye Belye Polosy” (Large White Stripes).
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). A vigorous and robust plant that performs well both in greenhouses and outdoors in open ground.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large oblate beefsteaks, typically weighing 7-14 oz (200-400g), with some reaching over a pound. The color is a milky/creamy yellow-white with delicate pale pink striping or blushing at the blossom end.
- 👅 Flavor: Universally praised on the forums for its incredible taste. Unlike many white tomatoes that can be bland, this one packs a very bright, intense, old-fashioned tomato flavor mixed with distinct fruity (melon-like) notes and high sweetness.
- ⏳ Yield & Growing Traits: Generally a mid-to-late season ripener. It is a heavy yielder. Growers disagree slightly on its shelf life—some say it spoils quickly, while others note it holds up surprisingly well thanks to a thin but sturdy skin.
Vendor’s description: Indet. Fruits are oblate, light yellow with pale pink stripes, good taste, weighing up to 350 g (12 oz).
Seeds were from Popenko. This was my first time ever growing a “white” tomato. Prolific, the taste is just a regular good tomato flavor, definitely not bland. Doesn’t store well at all. The color matches the description, very pleasant and delicate tones.

The variety came to me under the name “Large White Stripes”. I loved it so much, it was the discovery of the 2017 season! A successful combination of beauty, large fruit size, high yield, and great taste. Dense, buttery, not bland at all, it developed a perfectly balanced flavor (grown in clay soil). I’m so glad I finally made friends with white tomatoes. I’m thinking of planting more of it, though its late-season maturity makes me hesitate slightly.
One of my absolute favorites of 2018 — beautiful, prolific, and sooooo sweet! The fruits didn’t grow into massive giants, mostly staying in the 14-17 oz (400-500g) range, but they were incredibly delicious. Another thing I love about it — outdoors in open ground, the bushes stayed at about 3.5 ft (1.1 m). I will definitely plant it again in 2019.

Seeds came from Belgium. I wouldn’t call it pure white, it’s more of a milky-yellow, and I could barely find any stripes on it. BUT THE TASTE!!!! Sweet, aromatic, mmmmm, reminded me of eating a melon. I ate almost all of them myself, I literally couldn’t walk past without grabbing one to eat. Turned out to be the best-tasting tomato of the year for me, standing out among many other wonderful varieties! Mid-early, yield is a solid 4 out of 5, fruits were 7-14 oz (200-400 g). Definite repeat!
The tastiest tomato of this season, the discovery of the year!
I didn’t notice any stripes, the color is milky-yellow, falling into the “white-fruited” category.
Sweetness, tanginess, and a distinct fruity undertone (the first time I’ve ever tasted that in a tomato), it’s the very first yellow/white tomato that actually tastes genuinely delicious to me! It blew all the striped, pink, and red ones out of the water, and what’s crazy is that absolutely every single fruit on both bushes was equally delicious.
Permanent grow list, definite repeat, multiple bushes next time — two turned out to be way too few. In my opinion, it is a truly unique variety!
I disagree with the statement that it “doesn’t store well at all”. It actually holds up decently on the counter; the skin is thin but sturdy.
