📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Hungarian Heart Shaped
- 🌍 Origin: A classic heirloom variety. Judging by the name and characteristics, it belongs to the famous family of Hungarian pink oxhearts.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). It matures surprisingly early for such a large tomato. It grows well both in a greenhouse and out in the open dirt, though some growers report better yields outside.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Massive raspberry-pink fruits. They have a very unique shape: they look like flat-round (oblate) beefsteaks, but are actually formed by several hearts fused together. They can get huge, ranging from 7 oz up to 1.7 lbs (200-800 g)! Crucially, they do not have a hard white core inside.
- 👅 Flavor (The Ultimate Winner): The flavor is the absolute standout feature of this variety. It is incredibly sweet and well-balanced. In this thread, a grower who planted over 600 varieties in a single season rated this one as the #1 best tasting tomato of the year!
This variety turned out to be the absolute tastiest out of all the varieties I planted this year. I’m growing two bushes, one in the greenhouse and one out in the open dirt. Indet (indeterminate), maturity is actually pretty early. Yield is not bad, though it did better outside. The fruits are raspberry-pink, large. They look oblate (flat-round), but almost like several hearts fused together. When you slice them, you can’t see any fused parts inside. The taste was excellent right from the very first mater in the greenhouse, and it held up all season. I still have some unripe fruits outside. The flavor is very well balanced, and the sweetness really pops.
Sofia, what a beauty 👍 What is the weight, and does it have a large white core inside?

Olesya, the fruits out in the open dirt were all massive, 10.5-28 oz (300-800 g). In the greenhouse, the first fruits were big, 1.1-1.3 lbs (500-600 g), and the rest were around 7-10.5 oz (200-300 g). I didn’t notice any white cores, can’t recall seeing any. The mater is beautiful not just on the outside, but sliced open too. I planted over 600 varieties this year, many of them were tasty, but this one is the absolute best. I really hope the flavor stays this good in future seasons.
600 varieties!!!! I’m passing out! 😲 👏

Sofia! Was the bush tall in the greenhouse? Vigorous? How many main stems can it support? 🙂
