Here is the seed packet description: “Mid-early (105-110 days) high-yielding slicer hybrid for open ground and film tunnels. Indeterminate, up to 6 feet (1.8 m), requires pruning. Fruits are large, round, deep pink, meaty, sugary, weighing 6.7-9.2 oz (190-260 g), up to 10.6 oz (300 g). Exceptional flavor quality. Hybrid value: disease resistance, excellent marketability, suitable for commercial production. Recommended for fresh eating, salads, and juices.”

I grew it three years in a row in my high tunnel, pruned to two leaders. It was my earliest ripener, quite productive, and the fruits were beautiful and neat. Very tasty! SO tasty!!! But it is the absolute first plant to get hit by leaf mold (Cladosporium). It just ravages this variety. I had to strip the plant completely bare. I fought it for three years – removing the very first spotted leaves, spraying – nothing helps, it’s useless.

I’d love to read reviews from others who grew it. Did you have this issue too?

I grew it two years in a row (2000-2001) outside in the open ground. Early, tasty, and didn’t get sick at all.

I really need to try planting it outside, it’s just too delicious to give up on!

Natasha, our climate is a bit drier here. But the hybrid really is good. Give it a shot, it’ll probably have time to ripen since it’s an early variety 🙂.

Lyoka, yeah, I really don’t want to drop it from my list 🙂. I haven’t noticed leaf mold being an issue outdoors here, so I need to try growing it outside under some row cover.

Girls, what seed company did yours come from? I grew seeds from “SeDeK” last season. I definitely didn’t get the promised 6.7-10.6 oz (190-300 g) sizes. It grew outside, and I wouldn’t call it early, but it was productive. The fruits maxed out around 3.5 oz (100 g), and the taste was just completely ordinary. Did I probably get an off-type?

Mine was from SeDeK too. They definitely weren’t small, but they weren’t giant either. I didn’t weigh them, but the large ones were about 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter tops. Most of them were closer to 2.7-3.1 inches (7-8 cm). In my photo, one of the tomatoes is actually a fused double fruit made of two 3-inch ones.

Grew this in 2016 – my first time trying it. Seeds and results are in the photos. The color is pink (or deep pink). I’d rate the taste a 4.5 out of 5. Definitely repeating this one in 2017.

Full Summary: Mazhor F1

  • 🌿 Plant & Foliage: A mid-early indeterminate hybrid vine that reaches about 6 feet (1.8 m) in height. Responds well to being pruned to two main stems.
  • 🍅 Fruit & Shape: Produces round, deep pink (raspberry-colored) slicers. Size is generally medium-to-large, ranging from 6.7 to 10.6 oz (190-300 g), translating to roughly 2.7 to 4 inches (7-10 cm) in diameter.
  • 📈 Yield & Health: Excellent early yields, but highly problematic indoors. Despite seed packet claims of disease resistance, it is extremely susceptible to leaf mold (Cladosporium) in humid greenhouse environments. However, it performs exceptionally well and stays healthy when grown outdoors. Beware of off-types from the SeDeK seed company that produce smaller, inferior fruit.
  • 👅 Taste: Highly rated for a hybrid. Growers describe the flavor as sugary, meaty, and exceptionally delicious—good enough that people are willing to fight disease issues just to keep growing it.
