Siberian Girl Tosya Tomato Review

Quick Summary of Sibiryachka Tosya (Siberian Girl Tosya)

  • 🌍 Origin: A robust, early-season Russian determinate variety. The charming name translates to “Siberian Girl Tosya” (Tosya is a traditional Russian diminutive name).
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: An ultra-compact determinate (bush). It grows to a maximum height of about 50 cm (20 inches). It is completely fuss-free, requiring absolutely zero pruning or training. All it needs is a small stake to keep it from falling over under the heavy weight of its own fruit.
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Glossy, deep-red, perfectly round fruits. They are very uniform, generally weighing between 70–100g (2.5–3.5 oz). They are firm and hold their shape well.
  • 👅 Flavor & Use: Highly praised for having a very decent, balanced flavor—which is often rare for such early-ripening bush varieties. Their firm texture and ideal size make them perfect for whole-fruit canning.
  • 💡 Pro Tips: It performs exceptionally well outdoors in open ground, even without any cover or protection, though it also thrives in a greenhouse environment.

Sibiryachka Tosya. I really loved this early variety for open ground. It is completely trouble-free and fuss-free. The bushes grew completely uncovered outdoors, reaching up to 50 cm (20 inches) in height, and they were simply loaded with glossy, deep-red fruits.

The fruits are round, probably weighing up to 80g / 2.8 oz (I didn’t specifically weigh them). They are firm, have a very decent taste for an early tomato, and are absolutely excellent for canning.

Thank you to Julia for the seeds!

A very good variety for an early one. I am growing it in the greenhouse. To this day, the little bush is still completely hung with tomatoes.

Seeds were from Lena.

Sibiryachka Tosya. An excellent early variety. The compact bushes grew in the greenhouses, reaching up to 50cm (20 inches), heavily showered with red, round fruits. The average weight was 70-80g (2.5-2.8 oz), with some reaching up to 100g (3.5 oz). The taste is very good for an early-season variety. I didn’t prune or train it at all, I just tied it to a small stake for support.
