📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Afro-Cherry

  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). The plant grows to about 1.8-2.2 m (6-7.2 ft) in height.

  • 👅 Flavor: Mixed reviews! Depending on the growing conditions, some growers find them tough and totally flavorless, while others report a very sweet and delicious taste.
  • 🥫 Best Uses: Extremely firm texture makes them perfect for whole-fruit canning. They also have an incredible shelf life and ripen off the vine beautifully (lasting well into November).
  • Maturity: Mid-early season.

Terrible taste. They are tough and taste completely bland, like grass.

The variety is super! Tasty, sweetish, and highly productive. They are delicious just to eat right off the bush, in a salad, and canned in jars. They ripen indoors beautifully; the photo of them in my hand was taken in November.

I grew 2 bushes each in 2021 and 2022. Interestingly, in 2021, one bush had slightly elongated fruits.
