Requires moderate pruning of suckers. The fruits are oblate, red, smooth, weighing 70-120 g (2.5-4.2 oz), with a high content of dry matter, sugars, and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C).
Hybrid values: tolerance to Early Blight (Macrosporiosis), heat resistance, high yield, and resilience to adverse growing conditions. Suitable for large-scale commercial production.
Andromeda is the absolute best determinate hybrid for open ground.
It is highly productive, tasty, and great for salads and canning.

The ones on the scale are fruits from the lower trusses (the largest ones); normally they are a bit smaller.
Seeds are usually from the RO (Russkiy Ogorod) brand.
One of our most favorite hybrids. We’ve been planting it for 6 years in different colors (they sell red, pink, and orange versions here). Compact, sturdy bush. It has never gotten sick.
The yield is always huge for the red and pink ones, but for some reason, the Orange Andromeda produces significantly fewer fruits. The fruits are very uniform. Overall, it’s a standard tomato with a standard tomato flavor. Very good shelf life and transportability.
We plant it strictly for the yield – it is great for making lecho (traditional pepper and tomato stew), canning salads, sauces, etc. But for fresh eating, we pick other, tastier tomatoes.
