📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Boar’s Tooth

  • 🌍 Origin: Exotic variety bred by the famous American tomato breeder Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms (California, USA).
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate, mid-early season. The plant has a slender, wispy footprint but can easily reach over 6.5 feet (2 m) tall. It is well-behaved, disease-resistant, and highly productive.
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Elongated, icicle or plum-shaped paste tomatoes weighing up to 2.5 oz (70 g). The coloring is absolutely stunning: a deep brick-red base overlaid with dark olive-green and mahogany stripes.
  • 👅 Flavor: Very sweet, juicy, and meaty with perfectly balanced acidity.
  • 💡 Standout feature: Unlike many elongated paste tomatoes, Boar’s Tooth is highly resistant to Blossom End Rot (BER) and handles hot summers beautifully without dropping blossoms.

Indeterminate mid-early variety with wispy, delicate foliage. The fruits look very exotic. They are elongated icicle shapes weighing up to 2.5 oz (70 g), brick-red in color with dark olive stripes. The taste is a classic, ordinary tomato flavor. It didn’t drop a single blossom on any of its trusses. This is a Brad Gates variety, highly recommended for fans of exotic tomatoes.

My Boar’s Tooth grew very tall in the greenhouse, reaching about 6.5 feet (2 m). Mid-season maturity. Fruits are medium-sized, plum-shaped, dark red with maroon stripes. Very tasty, sweet, and juicy.

First time growing this one. Absolutely loved it. The bush is fairly compact, reaching up to 6.5 feet (2 m), but it’s very well-behaved (not overly aggressive with suckers) and completely bulletproof against diseases. Very tasty and sweet. It’s definitely staying in my seed collection. I will be growing it again.

A highly delicious tomato! Sweet, zero tartness, very aromatic, and meaty. It has a great shelf life and ripens beautifully off the vine indoors. Because of its size and shape, it works perfectly for both fresh salads and canning.
The bush is tall, well over 6.5 feet (2 m), but has a very slender footprint. It set fruit with practically zero dropped blossoms during the crazy hot summer of 2018. It also had zero issues with Blossom End Rot, totally trouble-free. An incredible variety! I will absolutely grow it again.
My seeds were from Ilya, big thanks to him 😊 The photos and variety characteristics he posted above match my experience perfectly.

Boar’s Tooth aren’t even tomatoes, they are basically delicious sweet plums!
A very productive indet. The fruits have a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness, and as a bonus, they leave a really pleasant aftertaste once you eat them… 😋

👨‍🌾 Editor’s Note: The Legacy of Wild Boar Farms
As mentioned by the growers in this thread, Boar’s Tooth is an American creation bred by Brad Gates, the founder of Wild Boar Farms based in Napa Valley, California.Brad is world-famous in the heirloom community for breeding some of the most visually stunning, anthocyanin-rich, and heavily striped tomatoes in existence (such as Brad’s Atomic Grape and Pork Chop). Boar’s Tooth is highly praised by international growers not just for its gorgeous exotic stripes, but because it avoids the dreaded Blossom End Rot (BER) that plagues so many other elongated paste varieties!
