Zoloto Kolchaka (Kolchak’s Gold).
Indet, a powerful variety with fantastic yields. Both of my bushes grew outdoors in open ground, pruned to 2 stems. They require really strong staking and support because they set every single truss right up until the end of the season without dropping any blossoms. The trusses can hold up to 8-10 fruits. They are beautiful yellow plums weighing up to 5.3 oz (150 g) with excellent flavor.
Heirloom tomato collectors love a good backstory, and this variety has one of the best! Zoloto Kolchaka literally translates to Kolchak’s Gold.
Admiral Alexander Kolchak was a polar explorer and a prominent leader of the White movement during the Russian Civil War. According to historical legend, during his retreat across Siberia in 1919, Kolchak’s army was transporting a massive portion of the Russian Empire’s gold reserves. A significant amount of this gold vanished and has never been found, sparking a century of treasure hunting in the vast Siberian wilderness.
This bright yellow, incredibly prolific tomato is a playful nod to that famous lost treasure!
