📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Coeur de Boeuf de Nice
- 🌍 Origin: A classic French heirloom originally from the Mediterranean region around Nice. The name translates to “Bull’s Heart from Nice”.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall), vigorous grower.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Medium to large red tomatoes, typically weighing 150-300g (5.3-10.5 oz). The shape is highly variable even on the same plant: some are round-plum shaped, others pear-shaped, and some are deeply ribbed/pleated while others are relatively smooth. The interior is very dense, meaty, and “marbled” with very few seeds.
- 👅 Flavor: Very good, pleasant, classic tomato flavor with a noticeable sweetness.
- ⏳ Yield: Excellent yield; sets heavily with many fruits per truss.

An indeterminate, tall-growing variety. I grew it in 2017 and repeated it in 2018.
The fruits on the exact same bush varied greatly in shape: round-plum shaped, pear-shaped, ribbed, and smooth. They are red with very few seeds. The flesh is dense, meaty, and almost “marbled” in texture. Fruit weights ranged from 150 to 300 grams (5.3 to 10.5 oz).
A very good, pleasant taste with a nice sweetness to it. Good productivity, it sets a lot of fruit on each truss.
