Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zone 4 Experience)
Must’ve been a tiny dinosaur 😆😆
Got my seeds from the same source (V. Popenko). While the fruit isn’t fully ripe yet, it has gorgeous green stripes; unfortunately, when it ripens completely, the stripes fade out, or rather, they turn yellow and become barely noticeable. Fruits are meaty, flavor is excellent – sweet 👍, and rich. Some fruits are noticeably larger than the variety average (like the sliced one). Kicking myself for not weighing it.
Received the seeds as a bonus gift with an order from Lidiya.
The fruits turned out bigger than I expected. You can’t really tell in the photo because I had to compress it to post here, but the ripe fruits have thin wavy lines on them. Probably where the name comes from.
Can’t give you exact yield numbers, but it feels super productive, constantly setting fruit. About five to seven per truss.
Flavor is top-notch. Juicy and sweet.
Full Summary: Plant, Yield, and Culinary Use
- 🌿 Plant: A vigorous indeterminate vine that does very well when pruned to 2 main stems in a greenhouse.
- 📈 Yield: Rated as a heavy producer. Growers note that the plant sets fruit non-stop, throwing reliable trusses of 5 to 7 tomatoes.
- 👅 Taste: Consistently praised for its rich, sweet, and juicy flavor profile.
- 🍅 Fruit: Plum/paste-shaped orange tomatoes. They feature vivid green stripes when unripe that mature into a faint yellow, wavy pattern. Weighing between 2.5 and 5.3 oz (70-150 g), they possess a firm, meaty texture that makes them equally excellent for fresh eating and jarring/canning.
