Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zones 5-11 Experience)
Dulcea de Fagaras (Sweet of Fagaras)
Sweet from Fagaras is a family heirloom variety grown in the Sercaia area, Vad commune, in the Fagaras region (Transylvania in central Romania).
Mid-season, indeterminate, very productive variety. Strong and sturdy plant with regular foliage. Fruits are oblate with pleated shoulders, an unusual red-pink color, weighing about 10.5-14 oz (300-400 g). The superb sweet flavor and juicy flesh are just a delight. Best eaten fresh.
I grew this from seeds I got from Natalia Yolushkina. Really good variety, highly productive and tasty. Plant height was 5.5 ft (1.7 m). Set every truss without dropping a single blossom.
