📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): General Kornilov
- 🌍 Origin: Pink heirloom variety from Russia.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate. Can be kept to a moderate 4 ft (1.2 m) out in the open ground, but turns into an absolute monster “tree” in a greenhouse, easily shooting past 6.5 ft (2 m). Very vigorous.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large pink elongated plums (or eggplant-shaped) tomatoes. Weight varies from 7-9 oz (200-250 g) up to massive 17 oz (500 g) fruits. Very dense and meaty.
- 👅 Flavor: Highly praised for being incredibly sweet – some even call it candy-sweet – with a rich, meaty texture similar to oxheart varieties.
- 📈 Growing Traits: Heavy yielder that sets fruit reliably without dropping blossoms. Highly resistant to blossom end rot, though it may split if subjected to heavy, irregular rains outdoors.
Seeds from the Chelyabinsk collector T.V. Afanasyeva. A moderate indeterminate, out in the open ground it reached a height of 4 ft (1.2 m). Mid-season. Heavy yielder. The tomatoes are large plums (or eggplant-shaped), pink in color. I really liked the taste, it’s similar to oxheart varieties. Meaty, juicy with a nice touch of sweetness. It sets 3 to 5 fruits per truss, every 2 leaves. Not disease-prone, not fussy at all. I liked it very much 👍.

Svetlanochka, huge thanks for the seeds! 🌸 In the high tunnel, it grew to almost 6.5 ft (2 m).. Fruits weighed anywhere from 10 to 17 oz (300 to 500 g).. 👍

My seeds are from our Angelina, huge thanks to her!
I didn’t grow a bush, I grew a tree! A massive, vigorous tree! Definitely over 6.5 ft (2 m) tall. First it hit the roof and bent along the ceiling, then I directed it sideways to make it easier to tie up. It was growing as a double leader, then decided to throw out a third stem, and I didn’t even try to argue with it – such a vigorous plant can easily support that load. It was loaded with large tomatoes from top to bottom. The flavor is very! sweet, almost candy-sweet. Overall, a real beauty 🔥
General Kornilov. One of the best pink varieties of the season! Indeterminate, I grew 2 plants pruned to 2 stems in the greenhouse, and they were such heavy yielders that I wore myself out tying them up 😁 Loaded from top to bottom 👋 with large pink plums weighing 7-9 oz (200-250 g). Very tasty, sweet, absolutely no BER, and a long harvest window. Seeds from Masha @Murka 🙏
Once again, one of my absolute favorites of the 2021 season. A very tasty, highly productive variety. The tomatoes are dense, hefty, heavy, pink plum-bombs. They don’t crack and don’t get BER. It was one of the very first to start ripening.
Seeds from Natalya Pavlovna @Yaroslavna, thank you!

Well, for me out in the open ground, it cracked really badly. We had almost no rain all summer, just got a couple of downpours at the end of the summer right when the tomatoes were swelling up. General Kornilov couldn’t handle it and split. Even though varieties with a similar fruit shape (Lida and Kolupaevsky) growing right next to it held up perfectly.
