📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Goat Bag
- 🌍 Origin: A highly sought-after heirloom circulated in Eastern European seed swaps under the translated name “Koziy Meshok” .
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). Strong, powerful vines that easily hit 6.5 feet (2 m). It features dense foliage, very sturdy stems, and thick fruit trusses that don’t kink under heavy loads. Highly resilient to both heat and cold.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Bright red, huge, slightly ribbed tomatoes. They can take the shape of a blunt heart, a pouch, or a barrel. Expect massive fruits averaging 17-25 oz (500-700 g), with some monsters pushing past the 2.2 lb (1 kg) mark!
- 👅 Flavor: The perfect classic tomato. Balanced, sweet, meaty, and juicy all at the same time. Not a sugary-sweet exotic, but an incredible, old-fashioned, multi-purpose workhorse.
Goat Bag tomato (Koziy meshok). Probably my best tomato in 2020. The vines are tall, around 6.5 feet (2 m). The plants are tough with thick stems, dense foliage, and strong fruit trusses that don’t kink or snap. The fruits are large, bright red with slight ribbing. They usually look like wide hearts, but can also be barrel-shaped, weighing 17-25 oz (500-700 g) and up. It’s a mid-season variety and a heavy yielder. Honestly, I am absolutely thrilled with this tomato.
Huge thanks to Nadezhda @nagya for the seeds!

Hey guys, what can you tell me about the taste of this one?
Rosinka: “Hey guys, what can you tell me about the taste of this one?”
Very tasty! But it’s not exotic, it’s more of a classic flavor. Well-balanced, with a pronounced sweetness. It’s not cloyingly sweet to the point where you wouldn’t want it in a salad. It’s just a really delicious tomato. You can put them in salads, juice them, or dehydrate them. Even though they are juicy, they are very meaty. It’s an outstanding tomato in every sense.
I adore this variety. I grew it out in the dirt this season, and every single fruit was over 10.5 oz (300 g).

This is a favorite! Enjoying it for the second year now. Tasty, productive, very large-fruited variety – there are practically no small ones on it at all.

This variety pumped out huge fruits for me too, hitting 21-28 oz (600-800 g) each.
The fruits are both sugary and juicy. Right in the middle of the season, the support string snapped from the sheer weight.

I saw a picture of this tomato back in the winter and I was instantly hooked)
Very few things catch my eye anymore, but I couldn’t pass this one up)
Inna, bless her soul, mailed me some seeds.
And so this beauty ended up taking a spot in my greenhouse. I pruned it to two stems.
What a genuinely good tomato! It’s a total workhorse, and it just kept setting large fruits. We had already pulled everything else out of the greenhouse and left this one standing, and it managed to plump up three final tomatoes. We pulled them at the breaker stage, and they were still tasty and meaty even after ripening off the vine. The biggest tomato weighed in at 32 oz (916 g).
My husband told me I have to plant two of these next year, and this is coming from a guy who thinks all tomatoes taste exactly the same.
Space in my greenhouse is extremely tight, I can only fit 14 plants total, so I only do one of each variety. But Goat Bag is getting a special exception – two plants.
Innochka, thank you! I thought of your kindness and helpfulness all summer long)
Excellent variety! The fruits are huge, a lot of them were right around 2.2 lbs (1 kg), some even bigger, and the absolute smallest tomato on the plant was about 21 oz (600 g). The taste is excellent, a real, balanced tomato flavor. If you feed it well, it’s an incredibly vigorous producer! Thanks for the seeds Inna @Inn@

I second this. And I also want to thank @Inn@ for the seeds. During a really difficult summer, this was one of the most productive and resilient plants I had. Grown to 2 stems, it pumped out smooth, beautiful, tasty (true tomato flavor) fruits through both the cold snaps and the heatwaves. Thanks Innochka!

I grew Goat Bag in the greenhouse in 2024.
Excellent variety – large fruits, heavy yields, tasty.
