📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Ibiza (Ibiza Elena)
- 🌍 Origin: Bred by Elena from “Tomato Eden.” It is the result of a cross involving the variety Banana Singapore. In seed trading circles, it is frequently listed as “Ibiza Elena” or “Ibiza Elena’s Beefsteak” to distinguish it from other similarly named varieties.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). An incredibly vigorous, disease-resistant plant that easily reaches 5.9 to 6.5 feet (1.8-2 m). It performs exceptionally well in poly greenhouses, but also thrives in outdoor containers.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: An absolute showstopper. The fruits have a bright crimson-pink base with heavy blue/purple anthocyanin shoulders and dark striping. Size Note: While the breeder’s original notes classify it as a small 3.5 to 5.3 oz (100-150 g) tomato, growers consistently report harvesting massive beefsteaks ranging from 7 oz up to 1.1 lbs (200-500 g)!
- 👅 Flavor: Dense, juicy flesh with a distinct fruity aroma. The flavor profile is top-tier, offering a perfect harmony of sweetness and classic tomato tang.
Here is the description straight from the TOMATO EDEN website:
Mid-season. Bush height 5.9 to 6.5 feet (1.8-2 m). Fruit weight 3.5 to 5.3 oz (100-150 g). A gorgeous variety resulting from my breeding work with the Banana Singapore variety. Second line. Huge, very healthy, disease-free bushes that produce fruit until late autumn. The fruits are super beautiful, round or slightly oval-shaped, bright crimson with a blue cap and purple stripes. The flesh is a deep crimson-pink, very juicy, with a fruity aroma and an excellent taste that harmoniously combines sweetness and acidity.
I absolutely loved this variety (got my seeds from Tomatanya via T@tk@, thank you!). In the poly greenhouse, it grew tall and sturdy, but wasn’t overly aggressive. Mid-season, heavy yielder when pruned to 3 main stems, and totally not fussy. It set perfect trusses of stunning, delicious tomatoes. Mine turned out round, with dense, juicy flesh, and they weighed way more than the description stated—mine were between 7 and 15.8 oz (200-450 g). They stored well and counter-ripened beautifully.
Ibiza Elena’s Beefsteak.
Indeterminate, easily one of the best-tasting and most beautiful varieties this season! 👍
I grew it both in a container out in the dirt and in the hoop house. It gave me large, red-striped, sweet tomatoes up to 1.1 lbs (500 g). The yield was massive, I really loved it! 😋

I grew this one this year too. Big thanks to Svetochka (@Svetikk) for sharing the seeds with me. Absolute beauties!

This thread perfectly illustrates the wild genetics of newer tomato crosses. The original breeder listed Ibiza as a small 3.5 oz fruit. Yet, every single grower in this forum thread pulled massive 1.1 lb (500 g) beefsteaks off their vines! When heirloom crosses are grown in highly amended organic soil (especially inside poly hoop houses), they often completely blow past their official catalog specs.
Also, the “blue cap” mentioned by the breeder refers to anthocyanin, the exact same antioxidant that makes blueberries blue. Tomatoes with anthocyanin genetics require direct, intense sunlight on the skin to develop those deep purple and black shoulders. The more sun hits the fruit, the darker the cap gets!
