Quick Summary of In Memory of Korneev (Pamyati Korneeva)
- 🌍 Origin: A celebrated Russian heirloom. The name translates to “In Memory of Korneev.” Note: It is often confused with another variety called “Korneevskie.” According to growers, true Pamyati Korneeva has regular foliage (RL), while the Ukrainian Korneevskie has potato leaf (PL) foliage.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Classified as an indeterminate, but its height can vary greatly depending on the climate. Some growers report a tall, vigorous vine, while others describe it acting as a short indeterminate or semi-determinate, stopping around 1–1.2m (3.5–4 ft) tall. The foliage can sometimes look a bit spindly.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large, oblate (flattened-round) beefsteaks of a stunning crimson/raspberry-pink color. Average weight is around 300g (10.5 oz), but they can grow much larger.
- 👅 Flavor & Texture: Highly rated! Very sweet, juicy, and aromatic. Many consider it one of the sweetest pink/raspberry varieties available.
- ⚠️ Growing Challenges: It is sensitive to extreme heat and may drop its blossoms (blossom drop) if temperatures get too high. It is also slightly prone to cracking, but its incredible flavor and heavy yield make up for it.
Pamyati Korneeva (In Memory of Korneev)
Seeds were from Irochka (St. Petersburg). I grew it in 2012 in the greenhouse. Indeterminate, vigorous bush, wide leaves, trained to 1 stem (leader). The fruits are oblate, large, raspberry-pink, juicy, and very tasty.
In terms of ripening, it turned out closer to mid-late for me, with an average yield. A very beautiful plant.
In my opinion, this wonderful variety has one flaw—it drops its blossoms in the heat.
Probably, the plants that Viktor from Crimea grows are the great-grandchildren of this variety… He calls them “Korneevskie”… only his are more ribbed, delicious, massive, and highly productive…
This variety was in first place for yield for me in 2012: average weight 300g (10.5 oz) x 18 fruits = 5.4 kg (11.9 lbs) per plant. It shared the gold medal for taste with Cardinal and Pink Honey varieties))))
I absolutely loved them. In the photo, they look red, but in reality, they are dark pink. They cracked a little bit, but the yield is just crazy!!!! (even despite the fact that not all flowers on the truss set fruit). Mine were of average height. Delicious!

Sveta, beautiful tomatoes 🌸! I read about the “Korneevskie” variety, but couldn’t find it here, so sellers offered me Cosmonaut Volkov instead. But based on descriptions, “Korneevskie” and “Pamyati Korneeva” seem to be the same variety.

For me, they are different. My Korneevskiy (from Ukraine, Yaskrava seed company) has a potato leaf (PL). Pamyati Korneeva (seeds from Irisha from St. Petersburg) has a regular leaf (RL).

Mine turned out to be “a meter with a cap” (barely over a meter / ~3.5 ft) tall, and the bush looked spindly and frail 😄. Delicious, large fruits, average yield, and it was among the early ones.
Mine was exactly like Elena’s. Not tall, and it was one of the very first to set fruit and ripen. I liked it a lot. But mine is named Korneevskiy. 😲
Vera, I got mine from Ira, and the girls even doubted if it wasn’t Korneevskiy (since it was so short). But based on the photos, the original owner identified it as Pamyati Korneeva.
A very beautiful deep raspberry color, sweet and very tasty! Out of all the pink/raspberry varieties, these are the sweetest and most aromatic. Mine turned out mid-late season. Seeds from Nadia (Nadine). Thank you so much! 🌸
I also had the local Dnepropetrovsk “Korneevskie”. I planted them a little earlier, but the drought hit them hard, and they grew quite small. We will try them again next year because ours are also good, sourced from breeders.
2015 Season:
The Pamyati Korneeva variety pleased me with a good harvest of tasty, juicy tomatoes.
I really like this variety, planted it for the second time. Very productive, especially the 1st and 2nd trusses set perfectly; later ones were a bit less once the heat started. Tasty, juicy, with a nice sweetness, definitely not bland. The “Korneevskie” variety was different for me, the shape was slightly different.
Grew it this year for the second time. The bush is short, outdoors in open ground it was about a meter (3.3 ft) tall. The fruits are pink, beautiful, and tasty. Yield this year was not bad.
I previously grew it about three years ago, and it was unproductive—the bush mysteriously terminated (self-topped) right after the second truss for some reason. But this year, I liked it a lot.
