Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zone 4 Experience)
Indet, mid-season variety, heavy yielder. Regular leaf. Fruits are medium-sized pink beefsteaks, mostly round or slightly oval. Sometimes they get a bit elongated with a little pointed tip.
These tomatoes are top quality – totally blemish-free and zero cracking. Very meaty and dense. The flavor is really pleasant and shifted a bit over the summer, starting out excellent with a nice sweet-to-tart balance, and settling into just a solid, tasty tomato later on.
One quirky thing about this variety: when they’re slightly underripe, the fruits have these yellow and greenish speckles that completely disappear once fully ripe.
Really liked this one. Super low maintenance, and it was one of the very last plants I pulled from the greenhouse at the end of the season. Great all-purpose tomato. The early ones are perfect for salads, and the smaller ones from the upper trusses are great for canning.
Full Summary: Plant Habit, Taste, and Yields
- 🌿 Plant & Foliage: Indeterminate, regular leaf, mid-season. Described as very low-maintenance and vigorous enough to be one of the last plants standing in the greenhouse at the end of the season.
- 🍅 Fruit Appearance & Size: Medium-sized pink beefsteaks. They are mostly round or slightly oval, occasionally throwing an elongated fruit with a pointed tip. A unique trait is that underripe fruits show yellow and green speckles that fade completely as they ripen. Highly crack-resistant and blemish-free.
- 👅 Taste: Dense and meaty. The flavor is pleasant and well-balanced, starting the season with a great sweet-to-tart ratio and remaining reliably tasty throughout the summer.
- 📈 Yields & Use: Heavy yielder. Extremely versatile—the larger early fruits make great slicers for salads, while the smaller fruits from the upper trusses are perfectly sized for canning whole.
