It is a highly productive determinate bush that produces small red plum tomatoes, traditionally featuring a sharp little “beak” on the blossom end. An old heirloom from Ukraine. It’s been known for over 40 years. It’s a plum tomato with a little beak on the end, extremely productive, and has a really long fruiting window. Perfect for canning in smaller pint jars.

Seeds were from @Lenka 😍

Hey there. Yours doesn’t seem to have the little beak on the end… Very beautiful and productive though. Is that in a greenhouse? Mine is just a standard det bush but with pointy little beaks on the fruits, and I usually grow it outdoors.

Yeah, no beaks on mine, I honestly don’t remember who I got the seeds from. There are two versions floating around the internet, one like mine and one with the beak. It grew in the greenhouse tucked right at the feet of my tall indet vines on a side bed.

How tall did it get in the greenhouse?

About 24-28 inches (60-70 cm).

Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Vigor

  • 🌿 Plant: Determinate, compact bush. Reaches only about 24-28 inches (60-70 cm) tall in a greenhouse. Produces small red plum/paste tomatoes. Traditionally, the fruits have a sharp beak on the blossom end, though a smooth, beakless strain is also circulating among growers.
  • 📈 Yield: Exceptionally high. The small bushes become completely loaded with fruit and have a long, reliable fruiting window.
  • 👅 Taste & Usage: A workhorse processing variety. The fruits are firm, uniform, and perfectly sized for whole-fruit canning in pint jars.
  • 🛡️ Vigor & Resilience: Because of its short stature, it is an excellent space-saver. Growers successfully tuck it into the front borders of greenhouse beds “at the feet” of towering indeterminate vines without it getting leggy.
