📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Akkordeon Rozovy (Pink Accordion)
- 🌍 Origin: A visually striking Russian heirloom variety. The name translates exactly to “Pink Accordion,” referring to its heavily pleated shape.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall), reaching 1.8–2 meters (6–6.5 ft) in height. A very vigorous and powerful plant that can be grown both in greenhouses and outdoors.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Deep pink to crimson beefsteaks with deep ribbing (pleats). Weight varies significantly based on growing conditions—from 150–300g (5–10 oz) up to massive fruits weighing well over 600g (1.3 lbs).
- 🥩 Texture: Heavily ribbed tomatoes are notorious for having empty hollow cavities inside, but well-fed Pink Accordions can grow completely solid and meaty with zero voids.
- 👅 Flavor: Highly rated! Very sweet, juicy, and rich.
- ⚠️ Pro Tip: This variety is a heavy feeder. If it lacks nutrients, it can be prone to “blossom drop” (aborting its flowers after setting the first truss).
Mine grew into a fairly powerful indeterminate, about 1.8 m (6 ft) tall. The yield turned out to be weak—it set the first truss, and then suffered from blossom drop and aborted the subsequent trusses. Maybe it just lacked enough “food” (nutrients)… But on the bright side, it grew three massive fruits—the combined weight of those three was almost 2 kg (4.4 lbs)!
The fruits are a dark crimson color, with absolutely no empty cavities inside, very juicy and sweet.
A huge thank you to Zhanna for the seeds! 🌺

The bush was vigorous, grown outdoors in open ground, but my fruits were not extremely large, around 150-300 grams (5.3-10.5 oz). The ones in the photo are even smaller because I only took pictures at the end of the season when I realized I didn’t have any good shots. The taste is very good, juicy, and sweet. As you can see in the cross-section slice, mine did have some small empty cavities inside.
I really loved this variety. Grown in the greenhouse. It reached a height of up to 2 meters (6.5 ft), mid-season maturity. The fruits are incredibly beautiful and heavily ribbed. Sweet flavor, very meaty.
