Quick Summary of Pomodoro del Nonno di Eupilio
- 🌍 Origin: A wonderful Italian heirloom whose name translates to “Grandpa Eupilio’s Tomato”.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate, mid-late season variety. Performs exceptionally well and produces heavy yields when grown in a greenhouse.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Distinctive red “pouch” or ribbed pear-like shape. The fruits are large and weighty, easily reaching up to 300g (10.5 oz).
- 👅 Flavor & Texture: Very meaty, firm, and dense, but absolutely not dry. When allowed to ripen fully to a slight softness, it develops an incredibly sweet and rich flavor. Considered by growers as one of the best-tasting pouch-shaped red tomatoes.
- 📦 Storage: Stores well and ripens perfectly off the vine indoors without losing its flavor quality.
Pomodoro del Nonno di Eupilio (Italy).
Indeterminate, grew it in the greenhouse pruned to 2 stems. It is one of the best-tasting red “pouch-shaped” tomatoes I have ever grown—it probably even beat ‘Iceberg’ in taste, or is at least right on par with it.
A highly productive variety. The fruits are firm, meaty, but not dry, weighing up to 300g (10.5 oz). When they fully ripened to a slight softness, they became incredibly tasty and sweet.
