Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zones 3-4 Experience)
Reckless Driver Vils (USA). Got the seeds from Kulik. Grew this vine in the greenhouse. It threw a bit of a fit early on and dropped some blossoms, so the overall yield ended up just being average. Eventually it settled down and started setting fruit properly. Topped out right around 3.3 feet (1 m). The flavor is really interesting, got a nice little kick to it on the sweet side. The tomatoes are super juicy but still meaty, weighing in at about 9 oz (250 g).

Absolutely loved this one this year. Grew a single plant on the sunny side of my poly greenhouse, running two stems. It set fruit right through the heat without dropping a single blossom from bottom to top. Mid-late season. I pulled 25 tomatoes off it, all weighing over 7 oz (200 g). Zero green shoulders and no hard white cores inside, just a super healthy plant. Bright pink fruits, perfectly meaty and juicy. Absolutely delicious! 😋
Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Issues
- 🌿 Plant: Seems to behave like a semi-determinate, growing to about 3.3 feet (1 m) tall in a greenhouse. Responds well to being trained to two leaders (running two stems).
- 🍅 Fruit: Bright pink, weighing around 7-9 oz (200-250 g). Very clean interior and exterior, with no green shoulders or hard white cores.
- 📈 Yield: Can vary. One grower noted early blossom drop leading to average yields, while another reported phenomenal heat tolerance and harvested 25 large tomatoes off a single plant with zero blossom drop.
- 👅 Taste: Highly rated. Sweet, meaty, and juicy, with an interesting flavor profile that has a slight kick to it.
