However, when it was introduced to the Russian tomato community, the name was awkwardly auto-translated as “Rabochiy Vypusk Pasty” (which translates back literally as “Industrial Production of Macaroni”). The bizarre name caused a lot of confusion and laughter on the forum, but the tomato itself proved to be an absolute masterpiece!
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate and tall. The bush is described as “graceful” with slightly wispy, drooping foliage, yet it is not flimsy. It is extremely resilient—growers report it surviving prolonged cold with freezing nights, followed by severe heat and two-month droughts. Performs exceptionally well in both open ground and greenhouses. Best pruned to 2 stems.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Gorgeous pink/raspberry elongated oxhearts. The lower fruits can be broad and blunt, while upper fruits are more pointed. They are massive: usually 200-600g (7-21 oz), with some growers recording giants up to 1.3 kg (2.8 lbs)! The flesh is incredibly dense, buttery (“oily”), and meaty.
- 👅 Flavor & Culinary Use: Sweet, rich, and aromatic. Because it is solid meat with very little gel, some say it’s not juicy enough for drinking juice, but it is absolute perfection for fresh salsa, spaghetti sauce, canning, freezing, and salads.
- ⚠️ Seed Saving Warning: This variety is almost entirely seedless! Finding enough seeds to save for the next year can be a real challenge.
Seeds from V. Popenko, growing it for the first time. Two bushes are growing outdoors in open ground. Tall, the bushes are neither flimsy nor massive, just medium. There are many stems, I didn’t count them, tied to stakes—it’s a jungle. I don’t prune leaves in the open ground, my tomatoes are planted very densely, but they don’t get sunscald, and I actually prefer the taste of outdoor tomatoes over greenhouse ones this season.
The fruits are elongated hearts, from 200-550g (7-19 oz), pink-raspberry color, good yield. Sown on February 24th, started ripening in late July. The taste is good, sweet, buttery, but not juicy—it won’t work well for drinking juice, but it’s excellent in salads, maybe for tomato paste or something else. Verdict: beautiful, productive, with good taste. I will grow it again.

It would be great for fresh salsa, or canning salsa for the winter! Judging by the name, it’s good for spaghetti sauce, tomato paste, ketchup… or freezing in cubes or whole for borscht. Now I want one too 🤣

For me, it’s the best tomato this year 👏 It grew into a vigorous indeterminate. The fruits are elongated hearts on the lower trusses, and rounder on the upper ones, weighing from 300g up to 1.3 kg (10.5 oz to 2.8 lbs) 🤫🤫🤫 The flesh is dense, sweet, and very aromatic 😋😋😋

To Italians, “paste” means macaroni. You don’t know what to think with a translation like that 😉

This is how my Work Release Paste from Popenko grew this year. Low yield, but that’s my fault (planted way too densely). But the taste…!!! Meaty, juicy, no voids, aromatic. The tomato is raspberry-colored, fruit weight from 200g to 600g (7-21 oz). Not prone to diseases. I will definitely plant it again.
My bush grew in open ground with medium foliage, didn’t get sick, but didn’t set fruit on all trusses. The fruits are beautiful and tasty. Maybe the yield was affected by a 2-month drought and extreme heat. I will try it again.
I grew this variety during the “wonderful” cold summer of 2017 in the Leningrad region. A wonderful variety, I got the seeds from Angelina. Highly productive, incredibly delicious, raspberry-pink, buttery. The bush is tall, not massive, rather graceful. It became one of my favorites. Now I just have to wait for a real, good summer to be surprised even more.
The tomato is juicy, sweet, almost seedless, and very large. There is a wide variety of fruit shapes—from large blunt hearts to pointed hearts, all on the same bush. The bush is tall, not sprawling, medium dimensions, with droopy (wispy) leaves. Overall yield is very good, although the variety is not early. In my region, it manages to give its main harvest in August.
This tomato entered the SUPER category for me in the 2018 season. It survived a prolonged cold spell with freezing night temperatures, followed by intense heat. I pruned it to 2 stems. The trusses are branched, but during the heat, the plant self-regulated, leaving 8-9 fruits per tier. But they were all large and tasty. It kept setting fruit right to the very end. Approved!
One of the leaders among pink tomatoes. Productive, tall indeterminate, large, meaty with tender flesh without coarse fibers, very tasty. Perfect for salad and for juice-sauce. The bush is thin, but not flimsy. The shape is elongated, even hearts. The weather “rollercoaster” this season didn’t affect the fruit set or the taste at all. Highly recommended!
Work Release Paste. An amazing variety, I was very pleasantly surprised. I didn’t plant it before because of the weird translated name, but in the spring, Tatunya gifted me a seedling. I read the reviews about it and planted it in the greenhouse.
Indeterminate, grew in 2 stems, fruits are dense pink elongated hearts, some quite large. Solid meat, juicy, very tasty, sweet, but there are almost NO seeds—it’s a disaster!

Yes! Very few. This year it surprised me with its size. There are many varieties I won’t repeat, but I will definitely repeat this one.
