Pink Elephant (Rozovyi Slon) Russian Heirloom Tomato Review

Seeds from GISOK. Fully matches the description. Potato leaf type.

As usual, I pruned it to 2 stems. It grew into such a monster in width that I had never seen anything like it before 🙂. It would really suit growing completely alone on 1 square meter (10 sq. ft). (I don’t have a photo of the whole plant, of course).

The taste is very good, one of the tastiest dark-pink tomatoes. Yield is normal. But with such gigantic plant dimensions, it makes you wonder if it’s worth growing when nothing else fits in the greenhouse because of it 🙂

Sveta, thanks for the description. I have its seeds lying around too, and I was eyeing it to plant in 2013. But now I really need to “think hard” about planting such a monster…

For me, Pink Elephant practically didn’t set any fruit in the greenhouse, but outdoors in open ground, it gave a gigantic yield. The fruits are very large, but light pink. And there are a lot of them on the bush.

Moreover, it didn’t catch any diseases! In a garden bed where all the other bushes were hit hard by Alternaria (Early Blight), it was the ONLY one standing with absolutely healthy leaves, diligently setting fruit. By the way, the Alternaria was brought in by seeds of ‘Malinovyi Tsvet’ from the Aelita company.

I planted Pink Elephant from Aelita. A tall determinate with strong stems. Productive. The fruits are a bright pink color, large; on the first truss they were up to 350 grams (12.3 oz), bright pink, with thin skin. I had to tie up the trusses to support the weight.

I’d rate the taste a solid 4 out of 5, but I used it for tomato juice and lecho. I really like this variety for its yield.

I agree with Mikhail. I want to add that for me, outdoors in open ground, it produces fruit until late autumn. Canned in chunks in jars, it is simply wonderful 😋

And the juice from it is absolutely yummy (to die for).

Pink Elephant was among my favorites in 2015. Starting from the seedling stage, I admired its strong little stems and beautiful leaves. When transplanted into a plastic greenhouse, it immediately took off growing.

It’s a very beautiful tomato with gorgeous trusses. You shouldn’t prune it to 1 stem; it’s better to keep 2-3 stems. The trusses are very heavy, they need to be tied up. Despite growing in the greenhouse alongside early varieties and hybrids, the very first ripe tomato of the season came from this plant.

I had one bush this year. Very tasty 😋

Sweet and beautiful. For salads or just eating fresh—in my opinion, it’s absolutely perfect 👍

Pink Elephant really suited my taste as well.

The tastiest this year and the most low-maintenance. It grew in the middle bed of the greenhouse, didn’t overgrow too much, and required the least amount of pruning/suckering compared to others. On the first trusses up to 300g (10.5 oz), higher up around 150g (5.3 oz).

A real workhorse, lots of fruits, good size, the taste is ordinary but not bad, and it has a very long fruiting period.

For me, the Elephant shows its full potential only outdoors in open ground. It sets fruit without skipping a single blossom, gorgeous trusses, magnificent taste. I plant 20 bushes of it every single year. It is our main salad tomato. Plus, it is highly resistant to weather whims and diseases. I would give the creators of this variety a medal ))
