Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zones 3-4 Experience)
Dang it, now I want this one 😛. Alright, repeating my mantra: I don’t need any more seeds, I don’t need any more seeds… 🙈
The only issue for me was poor storage. Maybe it was just the weather this year, lots of rain. Other than that, it was my heaviest yielder this season. Big shoutout to Lida for the seeds! 🌺
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh boy, trouble, trouble, trouble! 😲😲
I just finalized my grow list for the year, and now my “I don’t want anything else” resolve is completely out the window.

Galya, definitely plant this one, it’s incredibly delicious!!! 😋👍
Irish, are 5 fruits weighing almost 1.8 lbs (800 g) each really that bad for a first try?
Nah, Galina, that was just the biggest one. The rest were smaller, which is probably why I didn’t snap any pictures for the history books. Honestly, I wouldn’t have even remembered this variety if it weren’t for the photo and my notes: “Tastes great, but barely gave me anything!” 😄
Well that is super weird 😲😲😲… Both of my vines threw red-pink fruits. They looked very similar in shape, but the color was totally off, and I’d give the sweetness a 4 out of 5.
Planted it in some lousy dirt, so it lagged way behind the normally developing plants. Because of that, I can’t really judge the yield. 🙂 🙂
The fruits were huge, tasty, and gorgeous. The vine itself was vigorous and healthy. If it had produced a bit more for me, it would definitely be on my favorites list. 🙂
The fruits look a lot like Oranzhevyi Velikan (Orange Giant)…
My yield was absolutely dismal, the vine only set 4 tomatoes. Super delicious though! One of the best slicing tomatoes out there. Storage was terrible, though. Wouldn’t keep at all, just rotted right away. But the flavor is just mind-blowing! I’m gonna give it another shot!

Your review is killing me. 😄 You actually tried to store those 4 delicious beauties? 😄
It is the absolute best tasting variety. Wasn’t a huge yielder for me either, but I’ll grow it every single year. We devoured them instantly. 🙂

Don’t die on me! We just picked ’em and left ’em in the cabin. I took 2 home. Had a ton of different tomatoes ripening at the time. By the time we finally got around to eating the Meat Breakfast ones… and then I didn’t get back to the cabin for another 5 days. That was the end of those remaining 2 fruits.
Grew this variety for the first time this year and absolutely loved it. Tasty, meaty, and huge. Definitely planting it again. Huge thanks to Olya (o-lya-lya) for the seeds!
Big shoutout to Lida for the seeds! 🌺
Honest to God, I have no idea which Lida I was thanking earlier. 🤦♀️ The seeds were actually from @Lyubasha.
Heavy yielder, massive, and delicious:
Hey folks. To me, this variety looks incredibly similar to Medovyi Spas (Honey Salvation) based on all the specs and photos.

In my opinion, they’re completely different. Medovyi Spas is more of an oxheart, while Meat Breakfast is oblate. Plus, it gets way bigger.

Medovyi Spas is heart-shaped, and Meat Breakfast is flat-round.

Ladies, I gotta disagree with y’all. I’ve been growing Medovyi Spas for 7 or 8 years straight. It actually changes fruit shape after the 2nd truss and has never been a true oxheart for me! The first truss usually throws the biggest ones, around 2 to 2.2 lbs (0.95-1 kg), and they’re almost completely seedless! I always save seeds from the 2nd truss.
The reason I asked about Meat Breakfast is because the color, shape, and meatiness in the pics look exactly like my beloved Medovyi Spas. Figured I’d ask since I haven’t grown Meat Breakfast yet.
1st pic is the second truss, and the one on the plate is from the same vine but the 1st truss.

Absolutely loved the flavor and yield (even during this crappy, nonexistent summer we had). Grew it in the hoop house on the sunny side. It’s a vigorous vine, set fruit easily on 3 stems, and turned out mid-late for me. It ripened off the vine really well and stored decently. The trusses definitely needed support. The fruits are massive, oblate, bright orange, meaty, and have very few seeds.

Meat Breakfast has flat-round fruits on EVERY single truss. I’ve never seen it throw shapes like that. It’s a completely different variety from Medovyi Spas, no need to argue with us about it )))
Svetik, I was talking about Medovyi Spas – it’s never been heart-shaped for me, at least… And I haven’t grown Meat Breakfast yet.
Full Summary: Plant, Yield, and Flavor
- 🌿 Plant: Indeterminate vine, mid-season to mid-late depending on the climate. Very vigorous and healthy, easily handling 3 stems. Grows to about 5.5 feet (1.7 m) tall in a hoop house. Trusses are heavy and require extra support to prevent snapping.
- 🍅 Fruit Size & Look: Massive, oblate (flat-round) beefsteaks. Fruits are bright orange, incredibly meaty, and contain very few seeds. While 14 oz (400 g) is common, they frequently push past 1.8 to 2.2 lbs (800 g to 1 kg).
- 📈 Yield & Storage: Yields seem highly dependent on soil and weather. Some growers report it as their heaviest producer, while others barely harvested 4-5 fruits. Storage is debated—some say it rots quickly if picked ripe, but stores decently if picked green or ripened off the vine.
- 👅 Taste: Universally praised as one of the best-tasting slicing tomatoes. Phenomenally sweet and rich.
