📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Akrobat (Acrobat)

  • 🌍 Origin: A Russian cascading (trailing) cherry tomato variety bred specifically for container gardening, hanging baskets, and small spaces.
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Determinate, micro-dwarf/cascading type. It naturally forms a lush, cascading waterfall of foliage and fruit. If staked upright, it reaches about 50 cm (20 inches) in height. Highly ornamental!
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Bright red, round cherry tomatoes with a distinctive, tiny little beak (tip) at the blossom end.
  • 👅 Flavor & Yield: Very sweet flavor. It boasts a long fruiting season, remaining productive and decorative right up until the end of the season.

Akrobat (cascading/trailing cherry)

A very interesting variety of cascading cherry tomatoes. Just one plant in a pot, hanging basket, or barrel forms a lush bush with a waterfall of flowers and sweet red fruits—round with a tiny little beak on the end. It features a long fruiting period and remains highly decorative until the very end of the season. If you tie it to a support stake, the height is about 50 cm (20 inches).

I grew one plant per 12-liter (3.2-gallon) pot.

In 2025, I am growing two “Acrobats” in a cut-in-half barrel. I’m tying them to a stake so they don’t fall over. They are starting to set fruit. Well, I did pinch off a couple of suckers…
