Quick Summary of Bing Cherry

  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Determinate / Semi-determinate. Grows to a compact height of about 1.2 m (4 ft) when planted outdoors. Highly praised for its robust health, disease resistance, and cold tolerance.
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Gorgeous anthocyanin (blue/purple) cherry tomatoes with a red base. They possess unique color shades that make them visually distinct from similar dark varieties like ‘Indigo Rose’. Fruit weight is up to 30 g (1 oz).
  • 👅 Flavor: Good, sweet taste. While many blue tomatoes are grown purely for ornamental purposes, this one delivers on flavor as well.
  • Yield & Performance: Very productive. It sets full, heavy trusses and does not drop blossoms even during outdoor temperature fluctuations.

I liked this variety primarily for its beauty and the unusual colors of the fruits. It is productive, all the trusses were full, and it didn’t drop its blossoms at all. The fruit weight is up to 30 g (1 oz). The taste is good and sweet.

The height of the bush is 1.2 m (4 ft) outdoors. Judging by its behavior, it is resistant to cold and diseases; even now, they still look pretty good outside, and the bush is green.

Both the description and the appearance look an awful lot like Indigo Rose 😲

No, these are different varieties. Blue tomatoes in general often look alike, and you can only see the difference when you actually grow them. In photos, many can be confused, but this one differs somewhat. Its color is different from many other blue varieties, the shades are completely different. It looks very beautiful in person.

Although others are beautiful in their own way too, essentially, they are all grown more for beauty than for a massive harvest.
