Grew in a greenhouse, pruned to 2 stems. Tasty, juicy, but didn’t blow me away. Yield turned out to be below average. The fruit is beautiful though.
Seeds from Shevchuk (Ukraine).
– Plant habit: mid-late season, spreading, regular leaf.
– Fruit set: without skipping, the last fruits are ripening now.
– Height in open ground: 1.4 m (4.6 ft) by mid-August.
– Trusses: 2-4 fruits each.
– Overall yield: average, closer to high.
– Fruit: oblate, chocolate-colored.
– Density of ripe fruit: medium.
– Taste: harmonious, balanced, delicious, sweetness gets a 5 out of 5.
First impression: a good tomato for fresh eating and processing. Minuses: slightly prone to cracking near the stem, minor green shoulders. Overall variety rating: 4+.
This variety is supposed to have green shoulders, like all black-fruited varieties. Here is mine:
Mid-early, very prolific, but demanding on calcium fertilizers—it catches Blossom End Rot (BER) easily. Sweet and very tasty! Mine grows over 2 m (6.5 ft) tall. I prune it to 2 stems.
My Black Pineapple didn’t even reach 1.5 m (5 ft), wouldn’t call it highly prolific either. But the fruits are quite large and tasty.
Grew it in 2014 from Lena Danko (so it’s also called BLACK PINEAPPLES, not Noire).
Grew in a greenhouse. Tall. Pruned to 2 stems, as of July 23, it had 13 fruits. Beautiful and yummy 😋.

Luda, it’s the exact same thing just in different languages. The variety came to America from Belgium, hence the original name is in French. Black Pineapple = Ananas Noire.
Taste is sweet, the texture is soft, but it doesn’t fall apart into mush. Taste is 5+. The bush is strong and healthy.
Grew under a roof and I had a shade net stretched over it, so the color isn’t extremely bright. But it’s sweet, tasty, and prolific.
I grew this variety for the first time this year. Looking at the name tag, I kept waiting for it to turn black and just walked past it. As a result, in early August I harvested mostly overripe fruits 😂 Suddenly it dawned on me that “black” might not actually mean black 😄. Tasty, interesting, but suffered heavily from Blossom End Rot in early summer. I will definitely repeat it… someday.

I was sure I had shown my Black Pineapple from all angles. Turns out, I don’t have photos in my album of it cut open or on the scale. This is a photo from 2014, just on the bush.
It has been my favorite for several years now.

This is my Black Pineapple. Grew in the greenhouse. Pleased me with yield, beauty, and taste.
Black Pineapple also pleased me with its yield. In the greenhouse, it only grew to 1.2 meters (4 ft). The fruits were very tasty, sweet.

It wasn’t very prolific this year (2017). I will plant it next year again for the 3rd time.
This was my biggest wish-list variety last year. I don’t remember whose sliced photos I saw of it first, but it blew me away!!!!
I was afraid to plant it outdoors, so it grew in the greenhouse. It acted like a semi-determinate, I left 1 sucker with 1 truss. High yield. The color when ripe is chocolate-brown. I sliced a whole plate and served it to guests; everyone who tried 1 piece immediately reached for the next. So tasty, sweet, not bland at all—and this was during such a terrible summer.
I didn’t take pictures on the scale or sliced… a pity, it’s such a handsome guy… It seems we ate them faster than I could photograph them 😊 Thanks goodness I managed to save some seeds at least 😊 Big, beautiful, tasty, sweet, looks beautiful cut open—thanks to this, it frequently ended up in salads 😋.

I don’t have better photos, the one here is well overripe.
It was a bit underripe, but I couldn’t resist and tasted it. A very sweet tomato without a hint of tartness. The taste is simply super.
The tomato plant itself survived in my greenhouse despite everything, I want to repeat it next year.
My Black Pineapple. Very large tomatoes. Unattractive on the outside and very pretty when cut. The taste is sort of “salad-like”. I didn’t quite get it. It seems there are many tastier tomatoes out there. But for us this year, tomatoes are larger and not very tasty, according to many people.
Not a good keeper. If you don’t pick it on time, it spoils right on the bush.

Well look at that 😊 And I just added it to my repeat list 😊 In my memory, it turned out tasty. I wanted to refresh my seeds, it’s been 9 years already… I don’t even know if they will germinate. Up until 2012, I planted it every year. But everything is learned in comparison. Who knows, maybe today I would also say there are tastier varieties 😊

For us this year, based on my impressions and feedback from friends, tomatoes are generally larger but not very tasty. Even the proven varieties. This is my first year with Black Pineapple. Maybe it just didn’t show its true potential.
And I plant Black Pineapple every year, I like it very much. These are photos from ’18, I haven’t photographed it since, I just plant, grow, and eat it. Very tasty and beautiful, but I agree that it is not a good keeper, the overripe stage sets in quickly.
I remember this variety as very tasty and prolific, I planted it about two years ago. I will definitely repeat it.

We usually planted 1-2 bushes per family, just for fresh eating, for quick consumption. It was among the early ones for us, so it was eaten quickly. But the later trusses would overripen because we already had a larger choice of tomatoes to eat 😊
Tomato Ananas Noire (Black Pineapple) from Gusev.

Mid-season indeterminate, height 1.8 m (6 ft), grew in a greenhouse, pruned to 2 stems. The fruiting period was extended. The fruits are unusual not only in color but also in taste—a rich, sweet, fruity flavor. Super!!!
