Cherry Syrup (Vishnevyi Sirop)

This is an amateur breeding project by Sofia S. (a cross of Zuzu’s Cherry + Black Beauty).

It’s a relatively young release, but nevertheless, it showed great genetic stability for me. It grew exactly the way the breeder intended it to look.

Very beautiful dark burgundy hearts with heavy anthocyanin expression. I didn’t get any massive ones; they were mostly around 3.5–7 oz (100-200g). Very decent yield, and it has an extended, stretched-out fruiting season. They can also sit in storage for quite a while without going bad.

The flavor is bright, not bland at all, with distinct fruity notes.

The bush is tall and slender. In the greenhouse, it easily topped 6.5 ft (2 m). Part of my outdoor harvest was picked green to ripen indoors. It’s a mid-season variety. I really liked it!

Grew it in the greenhouse. It kept fruiting right up until the very end of the season. It stores exceptionally well. The flesh is sweet, absolutely delicious, and has a great aroma with just a slight hint of astringency/tartness.

Cherry Syrup

Indeterminate, a variety from Sofia Saakova.

Firm, sweet 😋 brown hearts up to 10.5 oz (300g) with a light touch of antho (purple splashing). I grew it in the greenhouse and pruned it to 2 stems.

When you grow a ton of different varieties, you really start to appreciate a tomato with a good shelf life—and this one is absolutely top-notch in that department! It hung on the vine for a long time, then sat on the counter waiting for its turn in a taste test… 😁 and it did not disappoint! 👍
