Cleota Pink Tomato Review

📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Cleota Pink

  • 🌍 Origin: An old, relatively rare family heirloom from Tennessee, USA. It is highly prized by heirloom collectors for producing massive pink fruits on potato-leaf vines.
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate, Potato Leaf (PL).
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large pink beefsteaks. They are exceptionally meaty but retain a very juicy flesh with very few seeds. The fruits tend to be quite uniform in size.
  • 👅 Flavor: A classic sweet pink tomato flavor. However, flavor can be somewhat climate-dependent—while most find it sweet and delicious, growers in cooler, shorter seasons sometimes report a blander taste.
  • Maturity: Mid-season.

An indeterminate, mid-season slicing variety. The foliage is Potato Leaf (PL). The fruits are large pink beefsteaks, meaty, but with juicy flesh and very few seeds.

I didn’t care for the taste—they turned out quite bland for me. The yield was below average. I grew 2 bushes from two different seed sources, and both turned out identical.

I really liked it. Pink, meaty, sweet tomatoes—and they are all roughly the same weight. It sets 3 fruits per truss. As of today, there are still a few more tomatoes hanging in the greenhouse.
