Quick Summary of Florentino
- 🌍 Origin: Originally distributed by the Russian seed company “Biotekhnika”. It is a heavily ribbed, European-style tomato.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate. Grows to about 1.5 – 2 meters (5 – 6.5 ft) depending on whether it’s grown outdoors or in a greenhouse. Uniquely, it forms flower trusses very frequently—every two leaves.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Bright red, deeply ribbed (fluted) tomatoes. The flesh is dense, meaty, and has excellent shelf life. When sliced horizontally, the slices look like beautiful scalloped flowers, making them perfect for sandwiches.

Florentino
The seeds were from Biotekhnika. Indeterminate, height 1.5 m (5 ft). I trained it to two stems. The first trusses had 3 fruits each, the subsequent ones had 4-5. The trusses form every two leaves. The tomatoes are very beautiful, bright red, meaty, dense, store well (great shelf life), the taste is sweetish, there is no pronounced acidity.

These beautiful “flowers” were absolutely perfect for slicing and sandwiches. 🍅
Mid-early ripening time, in a polycarbonate greenhouse it grew to about 2 meters (6.5 ft) tall, set fruit perfectly despite the weather, forming trusses every 2 leaves.
