Quick Summary of Yupiter (Jupiter)
- 🌍 Origin: A fantastic heirloom/commercial variety traded among collectors under the name Yupiter (Jupiter).
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate and extremely vigorous. Growers note that it develops very thick, strong stems that naturally want to bifurcate and branch out into multiple leaders. If not pruned strictly, it will easily turn your greenhouse into a jungle.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large, classic red slicing tomatoes. They are very juicy and meaty.
- 👅 Flavor Profile: The ideal old-fashioned tomato bite. It has a very pleasant, balanced flavor that is sweet with just the right amount of acidic tang.

It sets fruit flawlessly through cold snaps, heatwaves, flooding, and even when planted in the darkest, shadiest corners of the greenhouse.
A very vigorous plant, very. It honestly surprised me. Grew it in the greenhouse. Thick stem, which fully bifurcated, then split into four and was going to multiply even more, but I put a stop to it. And this wasn’t vegetative overgrowth (nitrogen toxicity), the trusses were full, the fruits were large, and it set fruit well. Indet, mid-late for me, regular leaf. The taste is very pleasant, tomatoey, sweet with a bit of tartness. Very juicy fruits. In my opinion – an ideal classic slicing tomato.
It was impossible to photograph the bush, in the photo it’s just a solid jungle, even though I pruned the leaves.

Here is my Jupiter.
This year it was the most resilient one! It set fruit when everything else was suffering either from cold, flooding, or heat. Even though it grew in the darkest corner. Very good variety! Also from Olesya. Galya Ahleto gifted it to me.
And can it go into the garden (outdoors in open ground)?
